Nice work, but it looks like some very interesting cars in the shed, the 260Z is what you should be working on or at least put a cover on it to keep the dirt and dust off it.

Good day Yrs ago work in welding shop. boss had leg vise & regular vise. I don't know why but he sold leg vise at auction, hammered on regular & broke. Old leg vise hammer on & bent 1/4 steel , no problem, big mistake selling. I bought a smaller one $5.00 Can any steel be heat treated? Can leg vises still be bought new? Thanks for now
@Black240SXDrift Жыл бұрын
Yeah, man! You can't beat these leg vises! Blacksmiths used them because you can forge on them and not break them. The more traditional vises hold things better and more accurately, but these are great for heavy work. Not all steel heat treats. Mild steel really doesn't harden due to low carbon content. Same with 306/316 stainless. There is case hardening that can be done, but it is an intensive process. The steel I used was 5160, which is a higher carbon alloy with chromium and a few other goodies that make a tough durable steel. I also use it in my knife making. Great steel. You can buy a new one from companies like kanca, but they are very expensive and definitely not as cool as the old iron!
