solid work mate, one suggestion mate and please this isn't a criticism, after you bend the tines go over the bend section again with your hammer (with the work hot) with planishing strikes to flatten out the bulging, you'll have to readjust the tines as they'll move a bit but the bulges will flatten out, you'll remove any hammer marks and it looks a lot more professional and clean.

I saw that too but was convinced to leave it comparing it to the one I was looking at in the archeological findings catalogue. I could also polish them out some with an old flap wheel on the grinder.

@@BerserkerGang2019 Yes it's always a decision each smith has to make as to whether to stay true to the original inspiration or make it your own. Personally, I do like to clean up my work and take out the bulges and hammer marks just to elevate my work, this shows my progression as a smith and the pride I take in my work. It's still handmade and has variations but I like clean work.

poobear is doing ok, I am awaiting spring eagerly. I worked in the garden all day yesterday. it was 10 degrees out. i was going to finish up my viking age padlock but that can wait for a rainy day.
