I would love to see the hook of the week again. I feel that if you streamed a video once a month you would get a lot of people in the chat and watching, I know I wouldn't miss it!! I think most people connect to you John, because you have that old world qualities about you.. Your are humble, kind, caring and honest. In a world where everything seems to be so fake, your passion for the art of blacksmithing is undeniable. Myself, I have learned more from you and continue to learn, then I ever could have on my own! I Know I am not a blacksmith yet, To me, "a master is someone who has given up on learning." As you said in your last lock video, "it's a learning curve, go back to the drawing board and think about it." I have that same stubbornness quality, that's one of the reasons I love the art of blacksmithing, every piece I craft I can see visibly my progression in hammer control. I can never say thank you enough times!! The craft of blacksmithing really has changed my life in so many ways...

John I like the idea of doing small technical projects. Could be hooks, handles for wooden trays, drawers, boxes etc. Small box hinges, a joiners wood chisel. Also animal heads, they could be on the hooks or bottle opener. Two personal ideas: a rams head with hammered horns, not twisted. Also is an easy way/ratio to work out the length of steel for a small project like the tray handles? I'm currently trying to make a pair of simple handles for a wooden tray I've made. Three attempt have ended up in the scrap bin. I'm on the forth attempt now. I'm now using 5/16 or 7.9mm square. The tray is 17mm thick. So to get the ends the same size ready for screw hole I'm making a wee jig to hammer the steel into to get the shape & one for bending the handle shape. I just find it hard working out the starting length of my stock steel😢. Some tips be great on that. Sorry for the long explanation. I'm Irish, what can I say! 😅

Scrap to profit series… John, when I lived in Buena Vista, I lived across the street (Cedar St.) from a blacksmith. Though I can’t remember his name, the art subliminally captured my desire. So here I am 12 years later and many miles from Buena Vista, creating with iron and steel. I’ve always loved your content. Forget the haters, do your art my friend. Thank you for all you do.

I would enjoy seeing a revitalized hook of the week like mini series. It doesn't have to be regular, but as a new and learning blacksmithi have appreciated your teaching style and practical approach to different techniques. Seeing more complex with an eye for detail has helped me push what I do further. Even though I'm doing basic stuff so far, seeing some of the more advanced ideas has been helpful.

I enjoyed hook of the week; it demonstrated how using some imagination can create a unique piece of useful art and build one's skills. Maybe start up a "thing of the week", same concept as hook of the week, but make whatever comes to mind. Instead of doing hook of the week, make it hook of the month so that viewers don't get burned out. Maybe do those ones in the small shop, a good coal forge video is always a positive in my book. Thanks to your hook of the week videos I came up with a gift idea for a friend that had just become a U.S. citizen. I made a wood black and branded USA into it with small pieces of iron that I shaped into the letters and then made 5 drive hooks that I hammered in to hang keys or hats or what ever from. To finish it off I used vinegar to strip off the plating of some lag bolts and gave them a matching burned on vegetable oil finish. Please keep doing some version of hook of the week, or repurposing scrap into something useful.

I've commented it before, and I'll comment on it again, PLEASE BRING BACK HOOK OF THE WEEK! Your hook of the week series literally hooked me on your channel. I was inspired by you using your "bucket of useful items" (not junk!), and has inspired me with ways to use up my own scrap metal that I've been collecting ever since I was interested in blacksmithing. I love your channel and I'd love to see a regular hook series pop up again. Don't tell me that you don't have any more buckets of usefulness rusting away outside... 😂 On another note, I like the new style of video you are trying here.
