Quick question for you... when you do your skulls and cut out for things like them like your fish head do you free hand draw and then cut it out or do you have a stencil you copy from? I tried free handing a skull after the wife seen it she took away my forge and replaced it with a 40 watt light bulb and a paper flame lol

Hahahaha that's the most awesome comment ever! I (free) hand draw everything first. So far I've been lucky in guessing material expansion. With skulls I draw from top down. The deer skull for example I draw the top of t I e skull to scale. Then draw one side, I then fill in the void between the top and side. I then make a copy of the side and rinse and repeat. Knowing eye sockets and brows concave and convex I try to adjust my drawing to compensate or allow. Often the final template is quite goofy looking but reduces the fighting of the material like a typical repose. Hope that helps. I keep copies of my finished templates.
