Outside of Torbjörn Åhman this is the best precision blacksmithing I have seen on KZbin. Many thanks for showing your work.

I love your use of tooling with power hammer. I made a set by hand but ended up breaking them both just past the boss. I think I was working too cold. I added them to my pile of lessons and will try again

Beautiful job drawing out those handles. And I agree with Marc - great power hammering jig!

I'm really impressed with how crisp you keep your lines. All your edges are as sharp as if you'd filed them.

Thanks, to set the edges I used the anvil and swage block off camera, along with power hammer use. Some file work to smooth edges for preventing cold shuts thoughout, I try to keep my videos short.

Ok I've watched 100s of hrs of blacksmithing video and I must say that was one of the most impressive examples of using a power hammer. What is your website I need to buy some tongs please, and you must have machinist back ground to build a double kiss block that looks like it belongs in a museum . Nice work

It could be my inability to do a proper search but i have yet to see a seasoned blacksmith design and produce a viable set of tongs that will lift a crucible out of a forge without having to hover directly above the heat to do so.
@rigoniironworks
@rigoniironworks 4 жыл бұрын
you could design the tongs for two people or possibly an overhead chain to help lift.
@mattyal9347
@mattyal9347 4 жыл бұрын
@@rigoniironworks your idea is for industrial use. I was referring to a 6 kb crucible. I was envisioning a set of tongs that had a bend (app.30°) so that when you lift the liquified metal out of the forge or melting pot the tongs would allow it so you aren't standing directly over it

wow, very nicely executed and forged. when I clicked on your video I notice your name and thought, "that sounds familiar". and tried to think where from, and realized that it was from the steep hallow forge demonstration on forging a colonial axe! you did a very good job there and appear to continue doing so! I was even fortunate enough that after the demonstration I was able to talk to you. you probably don't remember, as it was a long ago, but I was (at the time) a 13 year old boy, who had been blacksmithing for a couple years, did some Bladesmithing at the time, but not much today-Too much grinding and finishing! I prefer hitting hot gushy metal... ever get on IforgeIron anymore? my profile name on there is Littleblacksmith.

Levi Blackwood I had the block torch cut from 3" thick, a36 plate and then had the internal shapes waterjet cut. With the stand it cost me around $1,800.
