I got this for my daughter about 2 years ago. She takes this all over the place. It spends a lot of time at her high school. Where there are a lot of Small guitar amps this size this eams to be the only one for bass. We have got our money's worth out of this little amp. It is a battery sucker so get the power supply. That is the only issue, 6 volt power supply. Get the one from blackstar or another quality source as some of the cheap ones out there can make the amp hum due to crap transformers. I do wish Blackstar would just use a 9 volt source.

Great review. I was getting too much overdrive - probably expecting too much volume from such a wee thing............this has helped me a lot. Thanks heaps

good review. Liked the finger-style notes played. I have The Fly 3 combo with ext. speaker for lead guitar but bass is my main instrument. I was wary about this for bass, but it sounds good enough, and as with my other Fly 3 you can take it on the run, with 6 AA batteries, and jack in your phone to mix in backing tracks, which exist all over KZbin to jam to. Band in box with quality guitar sound. Thanks for this.

Nice review. I mainly play guitar, but on occasion I play bass. I've been looking for a good, compact, low watt, bass amp and I think you've helped me find it. Thanks.

Thank you young man I appreciate your instruction on how to use a different knobs on the amp

i would use it for recording purposes in a daw, with a mixc directly in front, so you need no high volume so avoid distortions a get a real nice clean tone.

Great demo. I'm new to bass, 4 string. As I'm only learning is it possible that I could blow the speaker in this or is it going to be okay? I wouldn't be using really loud anyway just concerned. Thank you for the demo and any advice you can give me.
@doca93572 жыл бұрын
For learning to play, I would recommend starting with something that you can play with other people(guitar, bass drums, keyboard) at least 100 watts and a single 12 speaker combo amp, that will give you a literal feel for the bass, you can learn to balance your volume across strings, these little backstair amps are useful for specific things such as practicing very quietly, playing along with other music via the extension input, playing with an acoustic guitar who isn't banging out chords. I have the guitar model with extension speaker, picking the bass version up for my son just for sitting out in the yard, road trips, stuff like that. In regard to sound quality, think of listening to music through a laptop, then plugging them into decent monitor speakers or then out to a stereo with real speakers, not just a blue tooth thing, that would give you an idea of the difference of playing through one of these and playing through an amp you can. do small gigs with.

Nice demo.Could this cut it in a casual living room jam with a couple of guitars at lower volume? This is just what my 63 year old gig worn back needs.
@Gruvlow5 жыл бұрын
I believe so if you add the extension cab. Without the extension it might hang with some acoustic guitars
@JohnGieschenJr7 жыл бұрын
Was that whole demo playing through both speakers or just the one? I would be curious to know what just the one sounds like. Thanks for the video btw.
@Gruvlow7 жыл бұрын
John Gieschen Jr that was both speakers. I might do 1 speaker demo one day. My opinion, the cost of the extension basically makes sense to buy both together

+Gary McCormick great question, I'm looking to buy one but i cant find a demo that has just "1" or not run through an amp via mic. so, the result of the demo is skewed.

I play bass, and guitar and someone gave me the Fly 3 guitar amp. I was thinking about buying the extension speaker. Is the extension speaker compatible with the regular guitar amp? I was thinking I could kill two birds with one stone. Get the bass amp, and then I would have the extra speaker, and the power supply which I don't have.
@Jihadbearzwithgunz4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the normal fly 103 extension works for both from my understanding.

I have the Blackstar Fly guitar amp and I was surprised how loud it was. I also have on order the bass pack with the power supply and the cabinet, which is compatible with the guitar amp. If this compression is good, then I don't have to buy a compressor if I'm running this into a PA. I'm hoping it's good enough to run into a PA. Also when I'm using JamHub I use my iPhone as a tuner, so I could use this to tune up.

Seriously looking to buy one of these. You got any rough idea how long the batteries last if you're using it away from any power sources?
@Gruvlow6 жыл бұрын
Not really sure. will have to test but they last quite a long time.
