I really appreciate and respect the effort you put in to this video: cut scenes, cards, your own sound effects, really solid analysis and just overall a really great job. I hope you keep this channel up and it grows because I think this video deserves the 10,000 views you mention. Thanks for this it really helped me make a purchase decision.

Thank you! For the Vox, one pair of AAA batteries lasts a LONG time, so I see having an onboard rechargeable battery (Donner) as a negative. A huge benefit of the Vox is the auxiliary INput jack, so I can play tracks (or Internet stuff) from my cell phone into it and play along. That is fabulous, and sounds so much better than the aux inputs of a couple regular amps I have. I agree that the Vox sound is so good, I play through it into phones in preference to turning on an amp. I have only used the green/ high gain mode because the others are underpowered, in my opinion. I agree that green for "high" and red for "low" goes against commonplace logic. The green setting's tone is clear, so "high gain" does not mean distorted. I have used one many many times until finally the plug connection began to fail. A couple years of use. Can be found for under $40 in 11/11/22.

I own the Vox. Here’s a real problem. If you play a bass where the input jack is on the bottom or the bass, you have to be super careful if you like to sit on a couch or recliner and just jam. The jack for the amp will break off in the bass if you put a lot of pressure on it. Cheap plastic housing around the input jack on the amp won’t hold up. Your ok if you have an input jack on top of the bass like a strat style instrument.

Good point! I am buying one, but I think I will buy a 90 degree jack with it and seperate it from the bass.

After a long hiatus from playing ( family illnesses mostly) I'm back to playing. And I agree that having one of these is a must nowadays. Learning towards the Blackstar myself. Interested in your take on the Fender Mustang Micro and the Nux. From what I’ve seen online, the Nux has a lot of customization, but it’s also a lot more work. The Fender is really interesting from an ease of use standpoint, and Fender’s digital modeling is pretty good and Bluetooth audio in is nice, but their effects are of course skewed toward guitar. I’ve had the Vox one for years, and I agree with your take on the tone. I’m curious about the Blackstar now though, for the heavier tone options.

The Donner is the only one that comes with a cable, no fuss to learn/use it, rechargeable batteries, and at half the price. HELLO KNOCK KNOCK; how could these features be so trivial ! @@NikiDorian as far as I'm aware it's a sealed unit you would have to break it to open it, and it'll probably be virtually impossible to find a replacement for it, save yourself the hassle get one with replaceable batteries.
@NikiDorian3 жыл бұрын
@@TheYjmfan I haven't seen the Donner but I've been inside a few Vox models ( usually to repair broken jacks ), and they are only "sealed" with a regular philips screw. The battery in the Donner is a LIpo. Finding a replacement is as easy as typing "LIPO xxXXxx" into google. The "X"s are the dimensions of the battery in millimetres which are already printed on it. Lipos can be recharged up to 500 times, the donner lasts 5 h on a single charge. 5 x 500 = 2500 hours of use. The Vox is rated at 15 hour per 2 non rechargeable batteries ( which is what people use ). To get 2500 hours of use out of the Vox you'll need over 320 AAA batteries. With rechargeable AAAs in the Vox you get less playtime per charge and less charge cycles before they die than a lipo, plus you need an external charger for them. So if you are only concerned with the batteries then get the Donner, it will cost you 20 bucks less upfront, and over 100 bucks less in the long run. :)
