@@DrJeffreyMcQueary I supposedly had one of the best … I went in 3 times after my surgery telling him I was feeling the same falling out as before . He would give me a quick check and say nothing is wrong… I am I excellent shape with no health problems so it really bothers me. He retired shortly afterwards and I ended up going with a pessary. I had the “ mesh sling” which is totally different than the surgery my mom had years prior and she never had a problem. But , all’s well that ends well I guess, and thankful for the pessary, it has worked out wonderfully for me! 👍

This is why I have been avoiding it because it seems it is a very nasty surgery with a very difficult recovery, it feels more like it’s my cervix and uterus coming out not my bladder that is where it’s most uncomfortable in that area.. I am stage 4 pelvic floor prolapse. A few years ago I had my uterus removed. Now my bladder fills my hand. I am going in for some big surgery July 30. They will pull up everything and attach it to my sacrum. The doctor said it is a mess. I can't remember everything he said but basically i am a mess. I am hoping this is a safe surgery for me. He has me putting a tiny pill inside to strengthen the tissues before surgery. He will also use mesh for the bladder sling. It will be robotic. Any suggestions? I don't get along with anesthesia as I have a difficult time waking up and it takes a long time. Thanks.

You are having a surgery called a Sacral Colpopexy. It is a very effective surgery using mesh attaching the upper vaginal area directly to ligaments on the tailbone. It’s a very effective procedure if done by the right person. The bladder sling is also very effective and should be great ways to fix your problems. I’ve seen the effectiveness for both of these procedures to be over 95%.

There is life after prolapse. Oh I can so relate to this. In 2018 I had prolapse surgery for uterus & bladder failing out. My back hurt and I had such pressure. I was basically home bound due to constant having to urinate. If we went out for quick meal & I could sit I could handle that. So I had the surgery 2018. So 5 weeks post op my bladder doesn’t hold up to the surgery and prolapses again. So I was having some issues with my tissues healing so I had to wait until August of 2019 to have surgery again. Then came Covid. Still not finished in 2021 I had to have a total knee replacement. I’m doing great now but I’m not going to lie it took me some time to physically ,mentally, and emotionally heal. I couldn’t do pessary they just came right out. My worst times were when there were low pressures in the area. The pressure was just horrible. The surgery wasn’t too bad and from the prolapse surgery by the 5-6 week I felt pretty decent. I had robotic surgery and yes I still had post op pain but not as bad as previous surgeries.

I'm sorry I don't understand if this is normal. Why are women not told this especially after having children. I feel its a set-up by the medical field. I'm 63 now have bladder prolaspe and my cervix has fallen and possible stage 1 rectal prolaspe. I think this happened to me b/c of hard coughing from being sick last year. I also had a UFE 2011 now my uterine lining is scared, to thick (to thick to be bisoped b/c uterus is scared) and possible change in fibroids increasing in size (up in size). I started BHT after menopause I guess it did'nt help because I still ended up with proplase. I had a UFE to keep my uterus to keep my organs in place and still ended up with prolaspe. I was fitted with a pressary last week, but was told it is something I won't be able to wear one forever. I was told my only options are remove the uterus use mesh or use my own tissue. Was told using my own tissue could only lead to prolaspe again. How do you determine if your tissue is strong enough to be used? Do you know of any doctors in the Chicago area?

Thank you so much. This was so informative. I’ve been battling with stage two cystocele and rectocele for about three years now I have seen a PT and it relieve the symptoms but they tend to always come back. I have lost weight but the minute I gain two or 3 pounds I feel pressure I am 53 and perimenopause, and still getting my menstrual cycle but very heavy and very irregular now my last one seemed to have pushed the prolapse out to probably a stage three scared me to death. I do not want mesh anything foreign inside me I’ve been trying to avoid the surgery I cannot pick up my grandbabies. I cannot run around too much without suffering later on having to put my feet up the pressure is unbearable, especially right before my menstrual cycle is supposed to come, I have periods where I can go a week or two without any symptoms but now I’m at a point where I welcome the surgery but do not want mesh seems to be more my uterus and cervix than my bladder. I’ve gone to a urogyno and my bladder seems to be working fine and I empty completely I asked for a hysterectomy, but they said that would not help my problem completely. What would you suggest? I am truly exhausted

It is very common to have prolapse after having had a hysterectomy for cancer. They tend to take out more supportive tissue and later on the upper vagina, very commonly will fail and fall down. This sounds like what your problem is and you should be evaluated by a gynecologist and if they don’t feel comfortable with repair and they should send you to, a urogynecologist.

I had some constipation issues as well. Doc advised kegel exercise. I want to ask is there certain exercise which i should avoid to not make the prolapse worse. Please let me know. Secondly can kegel exercise help lifting the bladder or will i face difficulty with intercourse. Should i be worried. Even it required surgery will it affect the intimacy?

first question, have you had children? Sure kegels exercises and pelvic floor therapy can help just avoid straining and heavy lifting, that will increase the prolapse severity. With intercourse you can feel some blockage that could be helped with surgery.

Also does estrogen cream helps? Estrogen cream can help if you are menopausal. Surgery or a pessary is not typically needed for mild prolapse. You may want another opinion on your prolapse to see if this is worse than stated and if this could be fixed.

I have been diagnosed with w a cystoseal and hv urinary urgency . I am on vaginal hormone treatments . The only solution my Urologists suggests is an implant of a device in my hip which communicates w my brain to alert me when I shd empty my bladder to try to avoid leaks. This doesn’t sound like it would treat my issues only possibly avoid leakages if it even works. I wish I could consult with you Dr. Q.
@DrJeffreyMcQueary
@DrJeffreyMcQueary 6 ай бұрын
There are lots of options for urgency, but probably a cystocele needs to be repaired because often this is leading to poor urinary flow, which can then cause urinary urgency. The device that he wanted to implant is called an Interstim or Axonics. Medication can be used as well. That can help with urinary urgency. Botox injections are also an alternative. Hope you get the right care.

I’m not exactly sure what type of mesh that is being recommended, but the main type of mesh that is still used for significant prolapse is a surgery called sacralcolpopexy. This surgery suspends the upper vagina to the tailbone. It is a very successful procedure, and has a little risk of the mesh exposing itself. Definitely talk to your doctor about the concerns you have, but it may be the appropriate surgery for you especially if it’s the best one that the doctor can do for you.
