The “can you blush?” line has a layered meaning; as mostly mortal, Blade has the human circulatory system and would be able to ‘blush’ where vampires probably don’t. And, there are some racist ideas that those with dark skin can’t blush; Reinhardt no doubt had both in mind when he asked the question, to try and push Blade’s buttons.

The "Can you blush?" - line is up to interpretation: Yes. It clearly is a callback to the racial slur. Obviously vampires can´t blush, but since Blade is half - human, in this specific case him being able to blush would be the vampires mocking him for not being pure blooded.

Same thing happened in Highlander: End Game, Yen played a super cool character that was killed off without a fight. My theory is they were worried about him showing up the main character(s) in both films.

While Blade 2 has a larger budget better effects and a better cast than the first one, I will always enjoy the first one the most due to it's incredibly gritty style. I honestly thought Wesley Snipes was in his best form in the first one looks and attitude wise.

You can definitely thank Guillermo del Toro for how the absolutely creepy the Reapers look and feel. Resident Evil (4 in specific) actually came *AFTER* this movie, so I wouldn't be one bit surprised if CAPCOM took a good amount of inspiration from Blade II's Reapers for the Las Plagas in RE4. *_Blade: Trinity_* a.k.a. *_Blade III_* is not bad, people give it a bad rap. I admit that it's not my favorite of the Trilogy, but it's absolutely not a bad end for the Blade movies. Watch it first and *THEN* make up your own mind about the 3rd film, that's my recommendation.

In the blade 2 commentary they actually mention why was the line was implemented. Apparently Snipes was telling the director a story about how some Austrian asked Snipes that very same question "Can you blush?", they didn't go into whether or not the Austrian was being racist, but Snipes said he "got a very good tongue lashing" when the director heard him tell the story, he wanted to implement it into the movie

I do recommend you watch the third movie. It was good, a laugh amongst the horror. Blade does the trifector of horror. First movie was sexy, second movie was scary, third movie is comedy.

The Reapers came as a result of Guillermo Del Toro wanting to crank up the scariness factor to 11. The design was entirely his idea. He did a good job too because these things are true nightmare fuel.

Donnie Yen was the fight choreographer on the movie... his appearance was on-screen was secondary to that role. They needed him more "behind the camera" than in front of it. Also... this was still VERY early in his career in American cinema - he was still working on his English (hence his lack of dialogue).

Blade is one of the coolest comic book adaptations to come to the big screen, but my favourite still is Brandon Lee as The Crow. some other good superhero movies worth checking out are Super starring Rainn Wilson and Defendor starring Woody Harrelson, not actual comic book characters to my knowledge but pretty good films for different reasons. as for Blade 3, no rush to do it but it is funny to see Triple H trying to act. especially carrying around a vampire poodle.

Fun fact morbius was gonna be the villain of this movie instead of nomak, but del toro wanted to do his own idea and at the end of a deleted scene In blade 1 stephen Norrington the director of the film is dressed up as morbius but because of probably rights issues morbius was scrapped from the sequel
