some of you aren't liking this demo, so let me say that a part of this sort of drill is to get more relaxed, even as you train in incresingly more dangerous positions. by being able to work the distance and position of your hands gives you some basic skills you will need, no matter how you choose to deal w situation. it's normal to get cut, so it's smart to learn how get cut less.. great vid, thanks for posting

I was taught that if a person holds it like that they want something but if they hold it with the sharp side going up the forearm they are trained thai -knife fighters and run. This is a nice fusing technique. thank you.

The drills are solid. The intentions of civilians are not. Systema that is taught to peaceful people is not the same as what the special forces learned.

I learnt some disarming techniques when I studied ji pai with plastic knives, we thought we were getting good then our siphu put lipstick on the edge. We tried again and were covered in "cuts." The best thing to do if someone pulls a knife is what Mr Ryabko says in the beginning, run away.

Yea okay. What if your wife and little kid is with you? Will you leave em and just stand there like a statue. Literally you need scrapping skills. Especially women nowadays.

legs are longer than arms. why grab when you can kick and disable? hard to stand with only one knee cap

This is silly, the only defense for a knife is a gun.

It is not the fault of the instructors. It is good for civilians, but it is not the same as their training. I think it would be good to have a civilian systema and then to have more advanced training where they beat the living shit out you, starve you and force you to eat your pet dog. Systema will teach you to move well, but it is not warrior training. They could teach it, but civilians do not want that.

Sincerly I don't like this so much. Assuming you can't put distance between you and the attacker, I would try to find systems on how to get the smaller injury and knock down the attacker. In one instance Ryabko is doing it, but I would focus on that more (maybe he did after or in other excercises). Playing around with a knife is always a majour risk.
