Nomak was my favourite villain in the Blade series. He was a more complicated and ultimately pitiable character. The whole "it hurts no more" quote at the end actually made me feel bad for Nomak, he's probably had to endure so much pain just existing, and you can see his relief that his suffering is finally at its end

As an aside, Westley Snipes as Blade was awesome. He's calm and poised, always in control, always ready to fight but Blade also has feelings and compassion. In some ways Snipes characterization of Blade reminds me of a more brutal Batman. Plus Snipes made hand to hand combat very believable.

It is not unlike when chickens devolve teeth. It comes at the cost of other problems You could look at it like it’s a dormant/recessive part of the dna of the virus And remember, it isn’t most viruses goal to kill their host, and often they will evolve to a less volotile state AND those around would over time grow stronger against it Consider the Spanish flu that people get every year. Once it death gripped the world by the throat, now it’s just a really shitty week. Not unlike how Sars Covid #19 strains are getting weaker with each batch too.

I only have 1 issue with the Whistler being alive situation. He shot himself with Blade's gun, which had custom-made bullets with silver and garlic. Blade makes all his bullets, so we know he had those bullets in the gun at the time. Even if he turned into a vampire, the bullet would still kill him as a vampire because of the silver and garlic. I feel this is a huge plot hole as I think the writers wanted this to be even more sad because he was using Blade's gun to end his life but they overlooked the bullets.
@ovandocarter6377 Жыл бұрын
i agree, but i dont care lol, I am glade they brought him back tbh it was great.

It could be the in anomoly where the bullet passed through. Leaving no trace of garlic or silver to block the vampire virus. Or they saved him after. Either way I'm fine.
@georgethomas4567 Жыл бұрын
Actually that's only in the script. In the actual film his bullets aren't silver like in later films. Because early on during the blood club he shoots several people and they don't burst into ash. He uses his gun mostly to slow them down in the first film like said by the vampire Blade captures in the beginning of this film and gets shot when Blade used him as a literal meat shield, "It's not silver, but it hurts like hell." Same with Whistler when he saved Blade about halfway through the film. He shots several vampires but they don't turn to ash they scream in pain and fall over, but don't actually appear to die because they're still moving. It's been my head cannon that they had been working on silver bullets in the first film but hadn't yet got it right. Since silver is extremely brittle the bullets either broke apart in the air making them extremely inaccurate or wouldn't even make it out the barrel. But between films he or one of his allies figured a way around that issue so they could use guns to put down vampires without needing to get close.

I think is another possibility besides Nomak coming from a test tube. He could have been born a regular vampire like you said, but an illegitimate son of Eli, hence why Nyssa had no idea about him. And Nomak could have been pressured to be a test subject for the Reaper strain to gain his fathers acceptance. Hence the gifted ring. And why Eli calling him a prince seemed to almost work on him Those test tube vampires were clearly much newer, so making them lab grown in a controlled setting could have just been the next phase in Eli's plan. Sure giving that ring was clear emotional manipulation, but if Nomak was just another experiment in a test tube, how many signet rings does Eli have to give away? 😄

Essentially, it's absurd for something that size traveling about 600 m/sec. Although it's slow to say a rifle. An 7.62x39 mm (AK bullet) travels on average 730 m/sec. And that's one of the slower moving rifle rounds. There's some ridiculously fast light ammo like .204 Rugar. There's high velocity loads for it that travel at 1,340 m/sec (4,400 ft/sec).

Blade II was a great film, too bad it didn't get a worthy sequel. Good characters all around, with Nomak and Nissa having character and layers to them. Too bad that didn't extend to the side characters like Verlaine and Snowman. One thing I'm surprised isn't mentioned in regards to Nomak, is his intelligence and training. Like that he speaks the vampire language. Since languages are taught, it'd be reasonable that Nomak grew up a pureblood rather than from a modified fetus/guinnea pig. The same goes for his tactical- and leadership skills, his close quarters training, and the fact that he had one of the Damaskinos rings. All of it points towards him growing up as a child of Damaskinos, rather than an experiment. As for why Nissa never acknowledges him as her brother: we see how much one of the guards from the bloodbank changed after being infected, so it's quite likely that Nomak was simply unrecognisable after becoming the carrier. Also funny trivia, it's hinted very early on that Nomak and Damaskinos have a deeper relation, and it's by their firstnames, which aren't much used in the film, Eli means "Ascend" while Jared means "Descend", the opposite of eachother, and it shows throughout the film.

As for suggestions, there's a little mentioned ( and not well received, sadly) little Vampire gem from 2006 tiled; "Perfect Creature", directed by Glen Standring and starring Dougray Scott that I HIGHLY recommend checking out. I'll even go so far as to suggest that "Daybreakers" which I quite enjoy, committed a fair bit of larceny when the Speirig Brothers wrote their script, as there are many semblances, heh. Cheers! :)

Reaper vampires are probably the best types of vampires. Full on animalistic Strigoi-like monsters, also Nomak is amazing

How did you read my mind about Nomak playing in Hellboy 2? I was thinking that near the end that it'd have been cool if you mentioned it and there you go and mention it.
