Hi. Here is a little evening jam with the Korg Volca Keys over an ambient loop. Using Valhalla Shimmer and Supermassive for the atmosphere and Paul's Stretch for the background loop.

I've seen synth videos you people wouldn't understand Attack Saw Waves on sustain, off the LF Oscillator I've watched C notes hit a new spark near the micro noise gate All those moments will be lost in 4/4 time, like chords in the refrain Rhyme to die.

i imagine having a glass of liqour in my hand as a i stand on my 86th floor balcony, gazing in to the labyrinth that is the city. the breeze is quite strong this high up but im used to it. the news talked about a blackout that would hopefully only last a couple more days. the city is eerily quiet because of that. everything had turned into a standstill, and this was the music playing in the background. thanks for a great listen!

So good. This is all new to me, and I'm trying to decide between this and the FM2. I keep hearing that the FM2 would eventually give more sound options, but hell, this is all I aspire to right here.

are you running VST’s or are these sounds coming from the Korg Volca? The reverb module sounds so incredibly vast. love the video the sound the vibe, thank you for keeping Vangelis’s visions alive!

@BartMassee main lead coming from Volca through Valhalla vst. Everything else is background loop using vsts in Ableton.

Absolutely beautiful- you have got the most haunting and emotional sounds from a Volca and a few effects. I guess, if you wanted to go dawless the Korg NTS1 shimmer and delay could do something similar with the Korg Volca Keys. Obviously, learning to play the notes as well as you do with your excellent use of the settings would take considerably longer to achieve.

Thanks ❤️ Yes absolutely forgot about nts1 - you can download custom patches for effects here. And I believe I saw Shimmer patches across KZbin. Also it shotbe possible to connect synth to PC via microphone port on motherboard (or with adapter if you have only one combined 3.5 jack). Check out my other videos too 😸

@@orchidsvoid Sinevibes' Albedo is a fantastic granular reverb that works with the NTS-1. The builtin "rise" reverb also gets you a great shimmer effect with the right instruments (especially e-piano oh my god)

Yeah a good and extremely versitile set up of volcas (in my opinion) would be: Drums + Bass + FM. It would cover genres from ambient to techno. Personally Keys is too limited in timbres - it's always a saws while FM is giving wide ranges of sounds.

That's would be a best solution - Crave can give you leads and bass while FM nice and rich pads. If you can better get FM2 cause it has 6 voices polyphony vs 3 for FM.

Love this! It's inspired me to explore my Volca Keys more. Usually the Volca Bass is my favorite. Could you tell us what your source sound was before stretching it into the backing track? I've had success with a choir ensemble playing single notes into a reverb and delay.

Hi. Thanks for the comment ♥️ Background sound was originally short loop of electropiano chords with simple bass line and fee drum hits nothing crazy 😁 That's for mid-hi end background drone. For bass drone I used a sample of my voice as a source. Hope it helped. Check my other videos and if you have any questions feel free - I will answer!

Hi. If I understand you correctly - it's possible to get MIDI out of Volca Keys but it requires open and solder MIDI out on circuit. Thank you for your comment :)

Glad you liked it 😊 "Smooth creaminess" come from both - keys analog path with really detailed and deep saws and Valhalla Shimmer smoothing it and giving space with shimmer. Also less detaled background drone highlights detailes of lead.

Did you have the Volca Keys plugged into a DAW? I'm trying to figure out how you got Shimmer and SuperMassive effects on a purely Analog synth. Think I could get similar effects using BigSky?

Hi! Yes it's connected to audio interface and Shimmer with Supermassive processing volca's audio. BigSky and emperess reverb should have Shimmer presets. Also cheaper pedals could do something similar too (like boss pedals). Valhalla Shimmer is quite intense plugin and I'm not sure you can find exact the same in a hardware world but similar - for sure. Check out my other videos for more details ❤️

Hi. Have no idea how to duplicate it with pedals. I bought Strymon Nightsky it has shimmer too but it's absolutely different sound. Maybe something big and clear could be in Strymon BlueSky/Emperess Reverb.

Hi Scott! Thanks for your comment. Correct, volca keys are connected to my audio interface and in Ableton I processing it's output with Valhalla Shimmer and Supermassive (Shimmer doing 90% of the work). Check out my other videos ❤️

@@scottmcauley1435 My favorite volcas are keys, FM and bass 😊 For start it much easier to use a daw. It's much more flexible and cheaper than any dawless setup. You can decide later on it while buying more synths/effect pedals. In the end you can buy something like MPC ONE or octatrack as a brains and center of your dawless setup.

Hi. Yes it supports up to 3 simultaneous notes. You also can record in built-in sequencer and play over with keyboard.

Once again what does all that mean? Valhalla shimmer and whatever? It's misleading if you're using or some how got other patches for this sounds? So is it just the keys? No offense sounds amazing I love my keys but I hate that when people are like 20 solid minutes from my volca or something if it's just the specific gear then people should do that or say something about it

Idk about all that plus I don't want to mess with my laptop either I just got that too for the first time in my life haha. Hi mate! Basically lead is volca sound went through supermassive and shimmer reverbs from Valhalla. Background loop is made with PaulXStretch VST plugin. I mentioned all of this in description and in video itself - no secrets here 😊
