Tomb of Dracula is my Favorite comicbook-series of all time and the Colan artwork is so stunning. Love Blade in the series. Vrossing my fingers for reprints of TOD Vol 2-3.

I never knew the history of Blade, and all I know is the Tomb of Dracula #10 spec that people like to buy. This early years omnibus is a great way for Marvel to not only tell the origin story but gain more interest in Blade for the upcoming movie in the next years. Thanks for this overview, Omar! Tomb of Dead V3 contains: TOD Magazine#1-6, Dracula Lives! #1-13, Legion of Monsters#1, Savage Sword of Conan#26, and Frankenstein Monster #7-9. I think that TOD Mag became Frank's Monster. Lucky to still have the TOD omnis. Thanks Omar! Colan Rocks!

Excellent. The hard part is choosing between Gray Morrow and Gil Kane for the cover. But you can’t go wrong with this art, especially the Gene Colan interior art. This is just such good art. Beautiful.

It's being done in Masterworks right now; they're three volumes in (to make six or seven total, depending on how much more magazine material makes it in), so give it time. When those Omnibuses are redone, they will be glorious.

After reading the Vampire Tales issues in the Morbius omni, i would really love to see omnies with all the Vampire Tales magazine collected in it. It is great soft horror and it is in black and white. :D :3 ;)

When did they add the 1991 ToD? It wasn't in the original solicits. And it was supposed to be 472 pages, not 720. Glad they changed their mind... although that story is a DARK place to leave Blade on, to be honest. "Tragic" doesn't do it justice. I thought maybe they'd collect it in a Nightstalkers omnibus or more likely a Midnight Sons series of omnis, but it does fit better here.

I have the three Tomb of Dracula omnibuses so I didn’t preorder this book, but I might have to pick it up now. I didn’t know the 1991 TOD story was going to be included in this! For some reason it was left out of the original omnibus.

In that case Marvel would do well to include it in their reprint of ToD Vol. 2 or 3, or the impending Marvel Horror Strikes Again! Omni (for characters like Son of Satan, etc.) whenever those might finally come around.

Thank you for this overview. Blade is just one of my favorite Marvel characters so I was excited when I find out he was finally getting an Omnibus based on his debut appearances. Definitely will be getting this one. Just hope they will release another omnibus based on the modern Blade stories or the Night Stalkers.

These one and done early years compilation omnis really could do with having the actual title font/design on the spine as oppose to the small generic font, really adds that bit more character to the book and makes it stand out like it should.

I always that I don't really like these books that have a lot of double dipping, but since the price is accessible , Tomb of Dracula is nowhere near to be reprinted I think I might get this omnibus.

Worth noting: inexplicably skips _ToD_ #54 entirely (Blade is in it) which is then referenced in #58, which was jarring.

I see many are demanding the Tomb of Dracula reprints and I'm joining that team. But my special request is that they include the LETTERS PAGES in the reprints. Why is it that only superhero books get the letters pages reprinted. This is discrimination against vampires and monster (Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing also had their letters pages omitted). Tell Marvel to do better or I'm taking to the streets and it won't be pretty.

If you like Colan inking himself, check out Nathaniel Dusk. Two 4 part mini series from DC in 1984 & 1985. He did some great stuff for DC, like Night Force & Silverblade.

Is it explained how that immunity worked? I mean ... about the bite and turning... how?, why? 👀

The bite isn't what gave him immunity, it's when they *learned* of his immunity. It just came directly from transfer through Deacon Frost when he was born. He also doesn't have any other abilities from it at all. Just immunity. So, not really explained any further than "it came from how he was born".
