With how George dropped his knife just taking it out of his pocket, I don’t think he should even try to defend himself against a mosquito. 😂

George would probably learn any martial art quicker than you would. Everyone make mistakes.

I lived in the Philippines for 3 years back in the mid-80s and trained in martial arts there. This guy is legit, depending on your school of thought, but as Mike Tyson says, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth". The #1 rule I was taught was if you get into a knife fight, you WILL get cut, which could be fatal, so if at all possible, avoid, avoid, avoid (run away). But it is all about slashing, not stabbing, especially tendon termination, because you disable the aggressors ability to attack without killing them, but as a last resort, slash an artery, they'll bleed out in less than two minutes... but maybe not enough time before they get you too. Edged weapon combat is an ugly business. That's why I carry a gun, LOL. I prefer 7 yd justice...

@@TokitoLee Um, how are you going to get the other guy to give up his weapon, huh?? Sure, I practiced empty hand defense against an attacker with a knife, but your chances are still very slim of trapping that knife and disarming him (or her) without getting seriously injured, and there are a lot more variables, size, strength, speed, influence of drugs. Your best bet is still to run, which I guarantee you is my first option, if possible. There's a reason cops have a "twenty one foot' rule". Any closer than that an attacker can close the distance faster than they can draw and fire their pistol (accurately) in self defense.Edged weapons in the right (or wrong) hands, are just as deadly as a gun.

Patrick, instead of hoping that some supplier has what you want.... Maybe consider making the training "knives" yourself!! Consider either buying a 3D printer and making them yourself, or have a friend who already knows how to do it make them for you. Would save you a bit of hand-work since the printed up object will be mostly the right shape. If you want to do it all yourself, you can design something on the computer, print it up a prototype. If you have ideas to improve it while training, you can modify it and print up another. Turn it into a development cycle til you get it as good as you can. Then make a bunch of them for your classes.

I study FMA. 1)The idea of your live blade attacking against empty hands is problematic. 2) While the Hubbad angle training is great for building pathways I have found that the only way to learn is by hard sparring. Besides that , spot on , especially the draw and closed use of the folder.

Wait a minute... Is he Implying that no civilian needs these tactics? What about armored car drivers, EMS, overnight truck stop workers like myself... I've been doing this for 12 years and I've been attacked with a knife twice and I have been shot at once. I'm certainly not alone in that category. EMS workers are the victims of violent attacks all the time! Of course armored car drivers rely on their firearms first but so do the military and law enforcement... I don't know, It just seems kind of weird and elitist

Sorry but this is McDojo stuff. Any real self defense expert will tell you to run if someone pulls a knife. Reason being that someone with little to no training in knife combat is still super deadly. I have seen people fught with machetes and it never looked like in the movies or games. What's next? Knife throwing lessons?

Thank you for this comment. You are correct. With all due respect, this fighting demonstration started out with basic 18th century Angelo Navy Cutlass/Backsword patterns (this is good) then moved into Arnis/Kali/Escrema patterns (bad) Then continued with McDojo errors. Why bad? Because of cooperative partners. Fights are blindingly fast, and chaotic, none of the close up sequences work simply because if you stay in the pocket human reaction time ofvabout 300 milliseconds can’t handle the blurr, or what we call in fencing the blurry wall of scissors. No. You use footwork to keep your distance and attack with longest weapon to nearest target. If You stay in the pocket like that your toast. Further, if you pull a blade on an unarmed attacker, YOU are the bad guy according to a jury. My credentials? A JKD practitioner, and Fencing specialist in Cutlass/Sabre

Actually the mortality rate for knife attacks is in the low single digit range. So no they are not super deadly.
@mrx2586
@mrx2586 2 ай бұрын
@@robertvondarth1730actually human reaction time is more than enough to do the close up sequences. Hitting someone is surprisingly difficult because it is so easy for them to react to it. I regularly spar with people who I cannot hit at all.

Why would you chop his hand when you pass it with your hand? You are as likely to chop you own hand off...this is all ridiculous. Adrenaline ruins fine motor skills and all this flowy slashing in x shapes isnt realistic. Its very fast and rough. Watch actual knife fights videos. Its over in seconds usually and theres no fancy stuff
