I am a life time fan of Buck!!! I was given my first Buck when I was 12 by my father. I have had a Buck 110 on my hip since I was 13. The only time I ever had a problem Buck replaced the blade at no cost with no questions. I will carry Buck for the rest of my days... I am 54 now and use mine every day!!! Super excited to see the new ones!!!!

Stepping up their mall ninja game maybe. That "talon" is pure silliness, and the "ground combat" is almost as bad. The pursuit fixed blade looks OK, although not anything revolutionary for the company.

Yup. Fixed blades are a new direction for Buck. But I already have a Japanese made Recon-Tanto in s san mai III VGI (Cold Steel) and I have a the Pilar by SOG 5" blade/S35VN ... so the tanto and the 5" fixed blade/got it covered. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2XSmZJ5j9KWi5Y I am not a fan of the 5160 though ... it is cheap and will rust on you. I am sure this is reflected in their price point so that evens it out a little ... oh wait, the Talon is coming in at $160! Not so sure I would pay that for 5160. I have a Kukhri that will do the chopping tasks not to mention the various sizes of my Gransfors Bruks axes. Next up is the fixed blade combat knives at $170 ... www.knifecenter.com/item/BU0245MCSMWG/buck-245-matt-would-go-fixed-carbon-steel-blade-camo-micarta-handles *I WOUOD FLAT OUT NOT PAY THAT FOR 5160!*

Combat knifes need to be able to cut everything, including wire, even when going dull. Versatility in a simple package that takes extreme punishment is a fixed blade combat knife's bread and butter. The combat knives look good but there's no protection for your hand when dealing with live wires or when plunging the knife into something. No serrations on the blade, no holes to enable making a spear. Nice glass break though. Agree, nothing revolutionary here. A good example of a versatile, simple, fixed blade combat knife is the Gerber that the Army is now issuing.

The Buck museum is pretty interesting. Sometimes you can find some decent sales in the official Buck store. They have a selection of factory seconds and you can find some gems for like 30% or more off. The Post Falls / CDA area is really nice. There's fantastic hiking and views all around Northern Idaho. It appears that some people making comments are not aware that the Talon is NOT something new. The 808 Talon has been out since 2018, albeit, was only sold to Police Officers / Active Military. Plus, the design was a bit different than the one being shown in this video. The Talon is a GREAT tool if one does a lot of outdoor / woods style of camping, hiking, etc. If one needs to clear brush, make an unimpeded trail, baton for firewood, etc., this is a very durable tool to have. I own the very first one that came out, (blue handle) so I know what it can do.
