I remember the decorations in Llanfairfechan Station. It was always nice to spot them whenever I passed through. As a child it was a highlight of my day out. Such a pity that they weren't retained when the re-development took place.

Alan, what memories this brings back! In the summer of 1962, my parents took me on a family holiday at the Holiday Fellowship centre of "Plas Conwy", overlooking Conway (as it was then called). Though the object of the trip was walking in the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia, I had plenty of occasions to watch the trains on the North Wales line, often steam-hauled by ex-LMS and BR Standard classes, as they rumbled out from the tubular bridge and roared along under the walls of the castle. I also remember the carriage sidings at Llandudno Junction, packed with maroon-liveried coaches, stood there all week before being used on the "holiday specials" for the change of visitors at the weekend. On a weekend trip up the River Conwy by launch, I recall seeing one of the local trains on its way up to Blenau hauled by an Ivatt or BR Standard 2-6-2 tank. One "rest" day, I bullied my parents into making a car trip to the Festiniog Railway, then only operating between Tan-y-Bwlch and Porthmadog, my first experience on the "Great Little Trains of Wales". Happy family memories from my early teens, thank you for reviving them.

Certainly had the right idea at the time filming what is now history.
