Your home looks beautiful Blair, so Christmassy. Just downloaded Hadley's book, I follow her on Instagram. My mum saw her twin sister three days before she died. She was so excited. I have a very strong faith, but this confirmed heaven to me xxx I have seen it so many times with my patients too.

I so agree with you about The Four Winds. It’s my least favorite Kristin Hannah book, and I usually love them. I was talking to my mom about it and told her it was like she researched everything bad that happened to anybody during that time in history, and then dumped all of them on our poor main character 😫. I did love The Great Alone, so hopefully you’ll like that one better! I need a bit of a lighter palate cleanser after I read a book by her, too.
@BlairLambКүн бұрын
EXACTLY THIS. it was just way too much on one character in my opinion! I’m looking forward to The Great Alone. ❤

I found The In-Between to be SO comforting to read when my mom was dying this year. I also can’t recommend it enough. Blair, if you loved that, you’ll love the podcast Near Death. Trust me. You’re gonna love it!!

Hi Blair! I love your weekly videos, I feel like we are catching up as friends. I also loved the book “the in between”. I too have followed Hadley for years and am also a nurse, hearing others share about their grief journey has been so healing for me as I saw so much death during covid. Hope you and yours are well, can’t wait for my Christmas crewneck to get here ❤🎄

I feel you on the audiobook thing!! It’s almost hard to pinpoint exactly why but for me, I think it has a lot to do with the narrator and the cadence they use - which is often so different than how I would read it 😂
@BlairLambКүн бұрын
Yes! I think I’m a far better visual learner than audio learner so reading is better for me! Riley is the opposite.

I think rest is such a taboo topic here in America. Everything is go go go, be productive, clean up the mess, go do this activity etc. Something that has really spoken to me is learning about how Jesus rested. All throughout the gospels he departs from crowds to rest. So glad your prioritizing rest!

I love audiobooks, they are the reason I have consumed 50 books this year BUT if I don’t like the narrator within the first 2 minutes I abandon the book immediately. I just can’t listen to a book if I don’t like the narrator.

I have the same Mum as you! She has started to realise that she’s not typical but I have spent my life feeling lazy. I now know I have Ehlers Danlos and I also now have PoTS so my energy is very limited and I feel a lot of guilt and shame around that- especially as a Mum of young children and having grown up with the Mum I did!

Thank you for sharing your story. EDS and PoTS are very demanding. Sending you love ❤

New subscriber here and I absolutely love your personality. I really appreciate the sincerity of your channel and the things that you share. I also feel the SAME way about audiobooks. Especially if it’s non fiction and the author is reading it themselves. Happy Holidays! ❤

If you're looking for historical fiction similar to Kristin Hannah where you learn a lot but is slightly less sad, I highly recommend Ruta Sepetys' books. I really loved The Fountains of Silence, which is about the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War

Thank you for this recommendation. I will definitely check it out!

I just use my home printer!! They’re so small that the print doesn’t have to be super high quality to look good!

Omg girl if you are reading nonfiction of struggles, you have to read Until We Meet Again by Michael Korenblit. It’s kind of hard to get, I wish they had it in audiobook but it actually was life changing.

I’m typically the same with audiobooks- I prefer memoirs or non-fiction. I use Spotify to listen to books so I can try them out and I don’t lose anything if I don’t like them. I am listening to The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson just now which is excellent but very long! I knew Seven Husbands would be good on audio- I may do a re-read soon. I’m desperate to re-read Carrie Soto and may try that on audio too!

You need an assistant again! I read on Libby The In Between earlier his year and then I read Julie McFadden’s book Nothing to Fear (also on Libby), she is also a hospice nurse.

Just finished Karen Marie Moning's book The House at Watch Hill. Something different for me. (It is the first of a trilogy.) I liked it! Would recommend. Before that I read The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden. I liked it as well. I just started The Stone Witch of Florence by Anna Rasche seems interesting so far. Like to share. I read the Four Winds in 2021. You are right it was a tough read. Thank you Blair Sunday mornings aren't complete without watching your videos!

I felt like The Great Alone was just as heavy as The Four Winds. But I loved them both! The Four Winds sent me down a dust bowl wormhole! But we are all different and that’s what makes reading great. I have to say I hated The Wonen by Kristen Hannah. Just completely did not like that book and I know most people did but that’s ok, we all have different tastes
@BlairLamb3 сағат бұрын
We do all have our own tastes and it's a good thing!! I have been watching all kinds of dust bowl documentaries. I did the same after The Women about the Vietnam War...I truly have learned more through her books than I did in school. Stories have so much power!

For me I can’t do audio books because I hate when the narrator does “voices” for the dialogue. I almost always hate the voices they give characters and it makes me brain itch

I actually enjoyed reading it, so well written. It was the first Kristen Hannah book I had read. As I’m from Australia I didn’t know any of the history regarding the depression in the USA. It was a sad book especially the ending.
