Blaise Diagne International Airport is Africas most modern airport. I was built and began operating in 2019 in order to replace Leopold Sedar Senghor International airport which became too small for the rapidly growing Senegalese economy. It also serves as the main hub airport for West Africa. It is located near to the city of Diass in the Thies region some 43 kilometres from Central Dakar.
