I used this as my 'prepared piece' at my audition for the Berklee School of Music. I got accepted with a fat scholarship; all thanks to Between the Buried and Me.

Not to mention he WROTE all of these songs (the drum parts obviously). It’s one thing to learn something difficult that someone else wrote, and another thing entirely to create something this crazy from scratch.

Neither, it's not a popularity contest and there are countless preternaturally-talented drummers in the world. Don't buy into the corporate concept that ratings matter.

Every time I watch this video I find something else that I didn't see before. If I ever saw Blake in person, I don't know if I would give him a hug for being the best drummer ever, or if I would slap him for making this song impossible to cover.

My neighbor introduced me to BTBAM around 2010, played them for me when we were having a barbecue, dinking some beer, and hanging out. I'm a guitar player (primary instrument) and a drummer. Dustie and Paul play some really cool shit, but Blakes drumming takes it to a whole different level. The way Blake steers the music through different time signatures, constantly pushing and pulling in different directions is awesome. He's hands down one of the most creative metal drummers of the last 20 years.

At 5:04, I count the measures as being 5/4 and 4/4 being repeated for a while during the guitar solo.In addition, Blake's drums have got to be the best sounding rock drums I have heard. He's got to be one of the best rock drummers alive and in action.

@irwin3036able Personally as a drummer, I don't really believe in a "play it as written" kind of style for myself or any of the bands I play in. I prefer to improv many parts live, But many bands especially those as prestigious as DT spend weeks in the studio crafting parts for the song, and so they feel that for their art to be expressed the way they intended, the original parts have to be played. Its kind of lame, at the same time if you made a replica of a famous painting you cant change it.
