As a pastor's daughter, I think this is a wonderfull explanation of how people feel when they know somethings not right between them and God. It's always really important to keep praying to try and strengthen your relationship with Jesus. I've seen people go from scared they're going to hell from what they've done, to literally preaching and praising God for the rest of their lives. Love y'all God bless

I totally agree with you. Well said. I have always believed that life is all about constantly learning & continuing to grow as a person. Not a competition, etc... Go at your own pace & try to learn a new thing every day. Especially in this subject. God is everyone's best friend & the only guaranteed friend for life. One that will never leave you, etc... I bought a magnet years ago that has 1 of my most favorite statements on it. God Is A Friend Who Walks In When The Whole World Has Walked Out. I have always loved it, believed it & believed in that statement too. It is true. He always walks in & helps you when no one else can or will. That is a definite. A good example of that is, a doctor tells someone who is seriously sick there's nothing more they can do & they are done. Next thing you know, the person goes home, has an emotional breakdown , falls to their knees & says, God. Please help me, please. I know you are the only one that can & I need it now more than ever. Please, help me. They then get up, go to bed & wake up the next day feeling completely different. They can not describe it right away but, in time they notice this or that. They intuitively know that something miraculous happened with them & within them. They go back to the doctors, get checked & the doctors say, whatever you had is gone. How is that for amazing. Happens more than we think & that is what we need to hold on to. Stories like that, instead of the opposite kind. Take care & all the best. :)

You are right. I know of a singer that has a beautiful voice. I listened to some of her songs the other day. She did not use her voice for good. Some of the songs were so "nasty". Just the other day as I met with my husband's pastor to plan his memorial service, I found myself admitting that I once had a much closer walk with God but had fallen away. I have a wall hanging that shows a butterfly and says "God sees the real me!" There's always going to be a voice that whispers we're not good enough, we're never going to get it right, who do we think we're kidding? My husband used to tell me how much he enjoyed using my NKJV Study Bible because of all the notes I'd made over the years, underlined/highlighted passages and reminders of the times God heard my cries. Blake you've written a very powerful song with a timely message that's not over produced drowning out the message. This is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. It reminds me to not give up, Jesus says in Matt 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect". Jesus gives that command not to scare us but to motivate us. Never Give Up.

Oh Blake... This is exactly where I used to be recently... It took me years to realize that God isn't hateful and looking to beat me up. Other Christians, including my own family made me feel that way, though... What I had to learn was the way others portrayed God wasn't necessarily how he actually is. You'll get to that point where you'll be reading bible verses, without it feeling like it's the bible verses you. And btw thanks for a new Christian country song, Lord knows we need more of that! 😊
