This is a beautiful song about a past love. Remembering the love and the heartbreak of losing it. Most people can relate to it on some level. There are always stages to recovering from a break-up, anger reflected by She's Got A Way With Words, then sadness (a mourning period) shown by Bet You Still Think About Me and Everytime I Hear That Song, starting to recover and move on which is reflected by a large part of the rest of the album. In the end what saved him from continuing to wallow in the pits of despair and sadness over the end of another marriage wasn't his new romance, but God shown by the song Savior's Shadow which he had a hand in writing himself (this honestly was the best song on the whole album.)

Beautiful song and fabulous as always, so talented, but I agree with alot of folks. The first time I heard it, I showed this video to my husband, and he thought the same thing. A broken hearted man, with alot of regret. Miranda turned her pain to music and I believe she took away Many awards. You listen to each of them, and hear it. Miranda hid her pain behind her music, which is so good, but sad, now he appears to look like it finally hit him, what he lost. That's just my opinion They both are fantastic artists, but I do believe, there is some level of pain, and broken hearts going on. Music is an excellent therapy and No matter what, the hurt runs deep here. And it's way obvious he has some regrets. Marriage is hard on these singers. It takes strength, sometimes there away from each other for lengthy time periods, but take example, Tim & Faith. 2 very busy married people, who not only work there butts off for us all to enjoy and make Absolutely fantastic music, and raised a family. They are a beautiful example of love, faith, and how to make it all work. I'm aware they had there troubles , every couple does, but those vows we take, mean something. I'm from Texas, and I will forever love my country. So looooong story short, no marriage is perfect, it has, ups, downs, peaks and valley's,,I see a man that hurts, made a mistake, and now regrets it. I see Miranda trying to over come many years of devotion and love. I pray, they both go far, and heal from this. He said that this album was his divorce album so I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this song is about Miranda because the whole album was written during the divorce and when he met Gwen. The initial emotions from the divorce would have still been raw. They were together for many years and the love they had will never just melt away. A relationship can end, but true love doesn’t.
