I love that DB crew were just like "yeah, Blake likes Yang everyone knows" xD The song is "Thunder Shroud" and is one of many Death Battle original songs I absolutely love. They totally did the disarming on purpose as a reference to Yang, especially since it's the other side to Yang's; mirror lost limbs seems fitting for DB "romantic parallels" xD

He really likes playing Tyrian, because it’s such a drastic change from what he usually does, and he gets to go totally psycho while doing his lines. He expressed particular fondness for the scene in 4x11, where he laughed maniacally while killing a Grimm.

Ruby herself is getting a death battle. Only problem is that they said it isnt gonna happen until the main series is over. Ruby is gonna fight Maka from soul eater. And from what i know current Ruby should already be enough to beat her. But id love to see Cinder in a DB likely facing Azula or Shig(apparently is a good mu). Roman Torchwick vs Penguin or Kano, or possibly even Jaune vs Sokka.

@@powderedsoul9128 I only say this because Animation rewind did this fight 5 years ago and they were both scaled at around multi city block. But ruby at least scales to Neo who is small city level. I heard an upscaled Maka gets to mountain and an upscaled rwby to island both via scaling to others.

Maka has no real.special ability, and definitely doesn't have anywhere near the same level of mobility

I may be a fan of Ruby specifically, but she can only possibly win atm vs the anime version of Maka, if they add manga Maka atm we would have another Weiss vs Mitsuru... Honestly I would love to see Cinder vs Mugino from To Aru Magutsu no Index(To Aru Series), no offense to Sokka but even current Jaune has him over powered...

The scene at the end of Blake's segment was from the fighting game Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang and Neo are playable in that game.

Thunder Spears are mostly about piercing tough armor, not raw explosive force. The 18 tons number was the full surface of the Armor titan smashing through the gate, the thunder spear applies a small fraction of that to a TINY fraction of that area to do real damage. Really, without a true direct hit, Blake's Aura should have survived.

If taking damage was the only thing that could cause aura to break, then sure - but it’s not. Aura can also break by cumulative use. For instance, towards the end of Vol 6, Ruby wasn’t taking a whole lot of damage, but her aura still broke because she was constantly overtaxing it by constantly using Petal Rose - and it finally gave out on her mid flight, and she almost plummeted to her death. During this fight with Mikasa, Blake had been overtaxing her aura a lot by blocking heavy damage as well as using her semblance. If it had been at the beginning of the fight, sure - she probably blocks the thunder spear easily. But she had already been in a drawn out fight with Mikasa when she broke out the thunder spear at the climax - aura break was quite likely in that situation - and it probably wouldn’t have had to be anything as powerful as a thunder spear to do it.

@@jdoggivjc I get that, but the beginning of the fight where Blake is taking hits and Mikasa isn't doesn't make sense to me at all. They are very evenly matched with swords and mobility. Mikasa doesn't have the same defensive durability that Blake does. She should have been cut up a LOT more before they got to the thunder spears.

Blake can match Mikasa in a head on sword fight, and she has Aura, AND Dust, AND Semblance to back that up. Mikasa ONLY has thunder spears. Even losing an arm was stretching what Mikasa is capable of.

@@elpepo0 Even if it was older Mikasa, they are at best equals in terms of human vs human fighting. Blake spent YEARS fighting and training in Adam's group, add in the time at and after Beacon, and she is a HIGHLY experienced fighter. They stood equal agains the Ace Ops, supposedly the best in the world. Mikasa has trained a lot, but against the wrong type of foe. She can tap into ancestral battle instincts, but that only fills the gap in real world combat experience against human sized opponents. Blake has all the advantages..

I love this episode because not only do they say “Likes: Yang” (as they should) but they also blatantly repeat Yang losing her arm, the black slo-mo shot and everything. The only difference was that Yang passed out and Blake just got up and said “Ugh!” which had me rolling the first time I watched it. Her K.O. move was badass too-it made me very happy :)

Totally recommend watching AoT. It's got the same 'things looking bleak, they're about to get worse' energy as RWBY, but has consistently better quality and lacks RWBY's tendency of occasional cringe. Also, the music is great, the song in this death battle takes heavy inspiration from the second to last (and in my opinion second worst) opening song. AoTs final final season is coming out this year, anyone who hasn't watched it yet is recommended to try and catch up before it ends. If not, recommended music is: all the openings, especially 'the Rumbling', zero eclipse, you see big girl, call your name... or just the entire soundtrack, I don't think there's a bad track in there.

Yeah...I know Attack on Titan is ridiculously popular, but it's extremely gross . I gave it up after 2 seasons. There are way too many gruesome deaths for me

This Death Battle was one of the biggest Ls in the history of the show. Not because of the winner, but because the fight itself was absolutely atrocious to watch. That and Blake completely shrugging off losing an arm makes me unreasonably angry for some reason, and Mikasa could have had a WAY cooler death. Even as a fan of RWBY I was hoping Mikasa would win. I knew she wouldn’t, but they didn’t have to make her look like such a dumbass the whole fight.
