Great video. I will be starting my first hives next spring. Thank you for sharing.

I understand the want to use 9 frames in a 10 frame hive, ease of removal. However, I would recommend using 10 frames, at least until the comb is drawn. 9 frames of foundation is most likely going to lead to cross combing and make a mess. Which for a new beekeeper (or any beekeeper) is not idea. Looking forward for updates!

I am starting my bee journey in the spring and it was really good to watch this video with easy step by step instruction. Thanks

I would advise your friend Robert to secure the top of the frame feeders. The bees will propolize them anyway and you want them all alined/attached. We use a funnel to fill this type of feeder. You are so kind to start him off!

Where did he purchase mats?

Good video. You didn't open the doors right. They needed to be hooked on to the bottom. Or propped up from the bottom. One way is open other way is closed. Good luck to him.

No entrance reducer?

i'm not a beekeeper (yet), but looking at the setup i'm wondering if those black mats will generate too much heat in the summer? Also wondering, would high winds just blow those hives off their support?
@daddykirbs5 жыл бұрын
A strap around the hive is good insurance against being blown off. My hives are a bit more protected from wind so it's a little different, but my hives are on a stand like this and have been fine.... (knock on wood)

You opened the flap wrong. Its supposed to stay attached and the bees come out each side of the flap. Use your hive tool to pop it open.

Maybe it does not matter but I would have placed the Nucs on top of there new hive and, not a fan of those feeders as I hate to see drowned bees , good luck and enjoy

I have 3 questions what is the appeal to 9 over 10 frames in a box? What kind og gloves were you wearing they look nice. And finally wh were there no entrance reducers on the hive?

Super, another Guardian for the bees!! Loving it! Thank You for helping Robert!! I have been wondering regarding Bee Nuks. . . . is that a special paint used to paint them? I was thinking that paint would be toxic for the bees, so many chemicals in paint . . . is there a special paint used for painting nuks? IMO if not there should be, just sayin', I'm not a bee keeper, but we are aware and cautious of that for ourselves, our children, Right? Well, Bees are more fragile and tiny . . .just worrying and wondering. . . .SHINE BRIGHTER TODAY THAN YOU DID YESTERDAY! . . .As always . . . Be Kind, Be Light, Be Love to one another, Help, Hear, Listen and Enjoy each other! Just Be! Know that you are greatly loved! To the Moon and Back💗💗

I am confused as to why they guy who WASNT in the video had more say about the details than the mentor who actual showed up to help you do the work? The mentor who was there was very gracious to put up with that conflicting information over every little detail.

Ditto! The new beekeeper is incredibly rude to the man who is actually helping him by constantly referencing this absentee mentor.

you wonder if the bees think of you wearing the space suits as alien lol I am new to learning about bees too the beekeeper says 10 years I have them funny I did not know I had any of them living free here the been hiding in the walls and ceiling of a building I have 10 years did put new plywood over the old plywood and studied outside of the building and then put insulation on the side and plywood that the put siding on the metal siding on the building the well inside are 2x8 staggered on a 2x 10 when I got the lumber it was bought as a low-grade lumber the well 20 hight the plan was to put in a second floor in time never happen it usually sits empty did use it to house the work 5th wheel and my boat in it don't have them again more the boat replaced the bee's thought it was a great new home for the gold in the wall the beekeeper said lol did remove some but never will get them all from the building I do not care too but the hives I have now they got moved to the new area they live in taking the cones from the wall like they know what was happen had hived the exit day they moved in than have some bee would prefer the wall the queen moved back to the well they well stay there did put in a lot more board for them to build the new cone too have more hives build and, painted, them funny put I name the bush from the skunk I have and they did help put their paws on the hives the first one was my sister in laws first-grade class hand prints lol

Why are they making so much noise
@daddykirbs5 жыл бұрын
They are ready to get out LOL ... actually there was some noise there that was intriguing to me. I meant to make a point of it to the camera, but we got distracted.
