Thanks for the shout out, Blake. You're making me wonder if I fed enough this year (I probably didn't). Looking forward to seeing you move the hives. Looks like a good spot for them.

Keep an eye on the closer board of your screened bottom board. The “drips” from jars will go through the screen and puddle on top of the closer board. The small hive beetle and wax moth larvae will really enjoy the syrup that the bees have a hard time getting to. I quit feeding this method because of that problem. I would recommend a frame feeder or rapid feeder Changes in barometric pressure as well as temperature changes will affect the vacuum in the jar (cooler nights even more). This will result in even more dripping. Keep a close eye when using this method - I fed like this my first two years and won’t do it again

Thoughts??? I'm thinking of following this exact process only instead of using dripping cans, I want to use a front feeder. I think it will achieve the same outcome

Another good one, Blake. Having no experience with Texas bees, I have to ask a noob question. Does the hive expel the drone bees in the fall, like they do up north?

Wondering, how will you protect the hives from the horses and the horses from the hives? Will the horses tend to rub themselves on the hives? Curious! As always praying for the best for you all there on Daddy Kirbs farm. Hoping those hives pull through the winter too. 🐝🖒

The bees smell the beekeeper as well as all the animals that live next to him and know them well through the smell and get used to this so do not sting neighbor
