LEGIT, one of the best bands I've heard in a LONG time and to think he started in a boy band...I knew he would do great things on his own but if you don't have a bad ass band like this to back you, good luck!
@deluxejay693 жыл бұрын
@@ambermcbrideford9828 to be fair, starting out in a boy band is very respectable from a skill point of view. Their job is to make money for a record label for cheap. Labels seek out particularly talented individuals because the less time they have to spend getting good takes in the studio, the less money they have to spend. Honestly, pop singers and musicians are generally the most talented people you'll hear on the radio, because they have to be.

TLB ... Howard Stern was impressed too. Remember him saying how he hoped they would include it on the playlist for the now delayed😔tour. I danced to this song in 1986 ... heard those first chords, had just been approached by two guys ( I looked directly at the hot one & said”Whose gonna ask me to dance?😂) We never gave our friends a chance ... he grabbed my hand and we danced until closing(2am in Dallas ...they’d just moved to Texas from NYC. ) We met them at Denny’s for breakfast and he gave me his card. He was so shocked when I called him the following week🥰 . . . dated the rest of that summer. All thanks to “SLEDGEHAMMER”😘LOL I ♥️ Harry’s version just as much if not more. ( Kudos to Stern for not asking him about his fondness for girly collars or his pearls. ) The younger Stern would’ve and the interview would have suffered because of it ...🤐🙏🏻🤙😉 ...

The whole piece is insane - bang on. But that drummer! I think part of understanding this cover is knowing the original fully and its impact at the time of release. The song was made for Peter Gabriel's voice so for Harry to achieve such a spine tingling/respected cover was huge. He's going to keep growing and evolving as a solo artist in a big way...

First time watching your channel. Spot on analysis. "Sledgehammer" was one of my favorites back in the day when MTV actually showed music videos. Shocked you have not covered anything by Lewis Capaldi! You are missing so much. Start with "Hold Me While You Wait" which showcases his incredible vocal range and control. Very strange as a producer you’ve never heard this song from Peter Gabriel. Massive hit. And this cover is excellent, but also not in that it’s pretty much a carbon copy of the original record, which as Harry stated at the beginning of the interview, is one of the best produced tracks ever. Harry didn’t do anything to make this his own, which I would’ve loved, but I appreciate his reverence for the original.
