Back in the early Netflix days, when they just mailed DVDs, I went down a deep rabbit hole of early silent film. One of the best was a early 1900's collection of films about working dogs. One was about a big mastiff who pulled a cart with a milk can door to door in a little town street. The women of the house come out with their pails and get ladles of milk from the uncovered can. The idea that somebody thought to document this fascinates me.

Logan is so good. One of my favorite movies ever! It's funny... I grew up in the 80s reading Marvel comics, and the thought that there would one day be all these comic book movies would have been unimaginably cool to me, but I'm with you, Matt, I just don't care. It went way overboard and now they're practically the only kind of big-budget films that get made.

Thanks Matt, Craig & Tona. Here's to Season 9! I'll throw a Seen It suggestion into the ring: Bong Joon-ho's 'Parasite', which I believe is the non-English language crossover success of the year (but still not out here in the UK!). I'm in the middle of watching it now and had to pause it - the sly, ratcheting tension is getting to me! Something is going to go very wrong indeed. Luckily I had your Xmas megasode to catch up with during this self-imposed intermission. It's very rare for me to break up a movie out of sheer dread, so it must be a pretty good movie. Right...?

Here's my funny Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Musical story: A few years ago I danced in our local theatre's production of the show. During our first dress rehearsal, I, having misjudged how quick my quick change was, performed a dance sans bra in a yet-to-be-tailored maid uniform. When it came time to bend over to drag a chaise across the stage, the man playing the Steve Martin role got a full, less than a foot away view straight down my costume, causing him to forget all of his song lyrics and choreography, which then caused our 80 year old director to give him a scathing, 10 minute hell-week dressing-down in front of the whole cast and orchestra, none of whom saw the costume mishap. It really didn't help that the man was my old high school Astronomy teacher. Seven years later and he still hasn't spoken a word to me, lol.

SEEN IT QUESTION/REQUEST I'm not sure how often you're asked if you've seen any foreign/Asian films as I don't see it often in your segments, but I'm very interested to know if either of you have seen either The Man from Nowhere or A Bittersweet Life. These are usually two of my "go-to" films when I'm trying to ease someone int Korean cinema as they're similar to American films in their structure. The Man from Nowhere being nearly beat-for-beat Denzel Washington's Man on Fire and A Bittersweet Life, while sharing a somewhat similar story to movies like Goodfellas and Casino, is very similar in pacing and tone to George Clooney's The American. Also, Craig, you should REALLY watch Lucky # Sleven. Not only is it a surprisingly good and underrated film, but it has an amazing scene between Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley near the end that's almost worth the price of admission alone. Furthermore, by the film's conclusion, the "silly" title makes a lot more sense. In fact, it's the only title they could choose that wouldn't give away the crux of the plot.
Matt, I feel like "Dorothy is not a compelling character" is a cop out. I was expecting you to go hard here, no need to pull your punches! I came here for the Megasode, I stayed for the Wizard of Oz hottakes! Fantastic season guys, I enjoyed every episode! Happy holidays!

Excellent! FUN (well, maybe not so fun) FACT: Elmer Booth died 2 years later in a car accident. He was a passenger in a car being driven by none other than Tod 'Freaks' Browning (who was Griffith's a.d.) They'd been at a late-night party, everyone was drunk, and Browning SLAMMED his car right into a flat-car loaded with iron rails at a railroad crossing. Booth was thrown, hit the rails head-first, and that was it. Browning broke a bunch of bones and smashed all his teeth. FUN FACT 2: Allan Dwan (who directed 'Sands of Iwo Jima,' 'Silver Lode,' and the Douglas Fairbanks 'Robin Hood') was in a car that followed Browning's and described the accident as "They were picking up pieces of our friends from the road." FUN FACT 3: film editor Magaret Booth (honorary Oscar recipient, 1978) was Elmer Booth's sister and only became a film cutter because after Elmer's death she had to support her mother.

Ok, so it's out on dvd. If you guys already watched it, please tell us what you thought of the feel good movie of 2019, Joker. All kidding aside I think this might be my favorite movie of all time. The Joker has always been my favorite character in fiction because he's simultaneously incredibly simple, and incredibly complex. You can just use him as a standard murder clown and it'll work or you can use him as a multifaceted reflection of the human id and it still works. I've literally only ever seen one bad version of the Joker and that was Leto, which I don't know who to blame for. Oh, and my ranking of Joaquin is better than Heath (Not as good as Mark though but he had more to work). Heath said that he didn't have a plan but you couldn't believe that thanks to the movie around him. Joaquin seemed to walk the line for me. That scene on the train full of protestors where he steals a mask from one guy and it incites a riot could have been sheer luck or a calculated move, which is yet another thing in the movie that could be up for interpretation. To be honest I could probably write an essay on the film but you guys don't have time for that on the show.
