There isn’t any actress in the world, ever who could portray Blanche Devereaux, the way, Rue McClanahan did. She was sweet she was sexy, she was feisty, and she she was hilarious. Rue had excellent comic timing and could create chemistry and awkwardness equally well and there will never be any one like her!

Rue McClanahan did credit to her role as Blanche D., but so did Betty White except Sue Ann Nivens was different and was out for one special guy called Lou Grant -but realized Lou would not sleep with her unless he was completely drunk which he did become. @graphiquejack9 ай бұрын
The others were stronger comediennes, probably, but Rue was the best actress. I think that's why they gave her parts with more serious topics, and her character had such range. Yes, she was vain and selfish sometimes, but that's what worked... that she could sometimes learn from her flaws and be a better person. She was also a good balance between Rose's cluelessness and Dorothy and Sophia's wisdom and sarcastic natures.
@Barbara-lu2sj2 ай бұрын
@graphiquejack I agree. Her personality was probably the least likable-self centered, egotistical, vengeful but when she was given a difficult story line she could act the pants off of it. The third episode of the series was when her sister needed a kidney and even though she was very spiteful towards her you saw Blanche's vulnerability when she found out her sister might die. Just an incredible actress.
