Man never thought you would do a video on something I'm involved in. Just lost my house. It expanded rapidly at night because of canyon winds. They pushed it up the creek at night then when it got hot during the day it went over on the ridge deep in Cohasset. It sucked hearing all of the assets for Cohasset get called off and moved. The camera that burned was in Richardson's springs.

Man sorry to hear that. I was wondering about people up there. I can see the plume from 50 miles away. Looks like a pyrocumulus cloud has formed right over the fire.

Sorry for your loss. It’s never easy, but for each such “total loss” events I have endured (way too many, frankly) - I was, in every case, and without exception - I was far more grateful for our survival than upset about the loss of material possessions. Perhaps not everyone has this experience - but for myself, and numerous others I have met throughout the years - the survival of our loved ones far exceeds the loss of our “things.” Possessions can be replaced.

My father was an 8th Air Force vet and always got a kick out of doing that. I also remember going out to the airport with dad to watch the Aero Union Avengers and Tigercats flying out to make air drops on wild fires. Its kind of ironic that Aero Union would have been so close to the Park Fire had they still been in business today.

I look at the fire and the size of a tanker drop and just have to think, isn’t that just futile. But, i know these folks are tasked with figuring out how to make tiny incremental changes in the fire add up. Commendations to them all for a job that just has to seem nearly hopeless. Not to mention some very precise flying in way to close to stall conditions

Man, what a conflagration. I wonder if the idiot that started the fire has any remorse... I hope the courts don't have any mercy on their docket the day he appears before the judge. It's bad enough when fires start because of Lightning strikes, but when they start because of man-made issues it is chilling.

When was the last time there was a prescribed burn in this area? Californians should be holding govt accountable.

No. If the cause of the fire is as suggested, the imbicle with the car should be accountable. Gov't can't guard against all stupid people.

That is the problem. California is very split on the role of government, some want more and some want less. It is very difficult to get a reasonable consensus on the path forward. A state with almost 40 million people may be too big to succeed. I'm a native born Californian and I love this state but as an 80+ year old, with all my fabulous wisdom, I don't see a way out before the second coming! I'm sure there will be a shift at some point but a lot of people are going to get hurt before that.

The parts of the state most at risk of wildfire are huge. I doubt 100 crews working 7 days a week would make an appreciable dent.
@ronjones-6977

@@scottdawson3604 YES, Roman Vlad is right. Fire is part of the natural cycle of these areas. There NEEDS to be fires occasionally. Prescribed burns would alleviate a lot of the "Surprise! I'm a huge fire on the doorstep of your community." You are right about one thing. The government can't guard against all of you.

Extraordinary (for me over in England) footage of the air tankers coupled with knowledgeable commentary. However, it also points out the human costs. I note a earlier post from a guy who has just lost his house. I hope there are no more serious consequences. I also hope the owner of the car has a good insurance policy.
