I was in the Blancpain boutique and tried it on. The ceramic bracelet is £7,000 if you get it separately. But the engineering is incredible. It has a patented design which means the links don't touch... As it rolls they separate, it's amazing

The problem with this is the cheapo Swatch version. I couldn't ever see me buying one of these anymore after that. Luckily Rolex don't and never will cheapen their brand in such a way. Pity as I would have had the Bathyscaphe by now as it's very nice without the show of a Submariner (which I have anyway, 20 years now). I'm linking your shows BTW - just subscribed :-)

May I? Too much rolexy shaped, with unnecessary complications for a diver. A little too much old school way of thinking perhaps, but meh. Blancpain is bowing to Rolex, while it should be the other way around. Rolex copied the Fifty Fathoms, now the situation flipped. Shout out to Blancpain marketing office. Instead of reviving a model that had a mild success, in my humble opinion, they buried it definitely.

If they only had reduced the original Fifty Fathoms as is, with a "reasonable" price for Blancpain standards, that would be a banger. No. People want Rolex, let's make something like that but more expensive and totally unnecessary. Always in my opinion, identity crisis?

@@stupidocanerosa I think Blancpain has always struggled. I wouldn't say it's an identity crisis because they've never had that same penetration as Rolex or Omega or other brands. I don't disagree with you. But I think they offer a very different product to Rolex. To me this is a high horological dive watch

@@WatchYourselfJorge It certainly is. But a moonphase diver... well, how can I say it... it's like having a Ferrari with a real pizza oven in the glovebox. A diver has to be a diver. Simple, rugged, highly legible. Wanna a moonphase complication? I don't understand why, but there are literally tons of elegant dress watches with that feature. I do repeat: my old man opinion and I wish they'll sell in cubic meters.
