Memories of going with my mum and dad and nan and grandad. This local coach firm did amazing deals (early 90’s) £189 for 10 nights or £239 for 17 days (a days travel each way so this way you still got full 7 or 14 nights in resort). That was for bed and breakfast. There was a restaurant nearby the hotel on promenade called Castaways you could get 3 course meal for 1000 persates (about £5) cracking holidays for those of us on a budget. Coach firms like that meant I had family holidays in Spain, Italy, Austria as it was within our budget and a hell of a lot cheaper than a UK stay at home holiday. My other grandad used to say we were rich as he didn’t believe we got the deals we did (he went to Weston Super Mare every year stayed a week in a hotel that cost him a lot more than our holiday) we used to say come with us but he was a wet rag and wouldn’t go on holidays abroad, and that was by coach, there was zero chance of getting him to fly lol. Apparently in his early years in business he once flew to Ireland and it was in bad weather in some crapped out small propeller plane and it scared him off flying for life😂
