He basically gave up his seat in the heavens so someone more worthy can be sent there. She was denied her seat there cus of the blasphemy she committed to bring the protagonist back: so he returned the favor

I think there might be more DLC in the way to would lead to Blasphemous 3 with perhaps finding a way to resurrect Crisanta and actually preventing the birth of the Incarnate Devotion INB4 revealing that the ones taking Penitent One or Crisanta to Heaven in both of these endings turn out to be the actual antagonists behind everything.

the penitent one sleep in the first game, he become part of the miracle, in this second part, crisanta do a blasphemous act, bring to life the penitent one, thats why she in the ending never ascended to heavens, this dlc is only wath if. the penitent destroy the mirale, freedom the lands and ascended to heaven whit all the people who helped some time in both games

Blasphemous 1: World is influenced by 3 floating heads and a magical concept that causes holy miracles (like giving super powers or feeding families), but people gets punished cus pope turned his seat around and was like "Not listening!". The protagonist is revived by miracle because the 3 heads wants to use him as the new Jesus to push their fame further, but a traitor disciple saw through this and warns the protagonist. Traitor gives Protagonist a means to recruit female knight to his cause and access the 3 heads behind holy forces to put a stop of their godly rule and harm upon the world. They kill God, Protagonist dies cus he was brought to life by miracle. Blasphemous 2: 1000 years later, and nobody heard of the holy crap anymore nor remembers the old penance days. Miracle is somehow still clinging to life despite losing it's God, and tries to make a comeback through granting miracles (which keep backfiring cus of how weaken it was). Final gambit was to make a baby that will become their new god to begin it's new holy age, female knight tries to stop it but fails cus miracle baby's bodyguards. She commits a sin to revive Protagonist to stop birth of miracle baby so people stop getting tormented by holy magic. Child gets born just when Protagonist arrives, and they fight. one ending reveals that the miracle want this fight to happen so the baby will recognize the Protagonist's former role as potential Jesus, and become one with him to fulfill miracles goal: everyone suffers. One ending, achieved by getting some special ashes, Shields Protagonist from becoming one with miracle baby due to being tainted, Protagonist goes to be with the saints: no more evil holy magic. Last ending let's the miracle baby truly open his eyes and realize "Oh crap, what my parent wants me to do is fricked up and basically abuse. Please put me out of my misery". Protagonist hands slaying duty to female knight so she can be redeemed and get to be with the saints. Protagonist stays behind and just rolls with it

The miracle, probably fearful of the Penanant one doing something to mess things up; deceives wandering Paladin into killing protagonist and claiming Mea Culpa for themselves (most likely cus it know that weapon will ruin everything) Meanwhile, you help a lady who was buried in mud far from her grave escape and escorted to her final resting place. In return, she let's you into the dreamscape of the visages (you know the place with the golden face guys that give you the wound badges?) To see Female paladin Female knight wants Protagonist to use the original blade to strike down miracle baby and truly open its eyes to the truth. She is unable to pass on as she is kept in the dreamscape of the visages to hide her soul. You follow foreign Paladin to the ruined chapel where sword was forge and take hilt back for the soothsayer lady to channel her guilt to reforge the blade. Sometime later you reunite with foreign Paladin to prove whose better and obviously you win. The rest is what Ending 3 is

I'm sure I stumbled across a tombstone with the same blue wisp animation as the cages in Choir of Thorns, but I couldn't figure out how to interact with it. I wonder if it's another puzzle like the symbols in the base game?

There are 4 tombstones with blue flame around the dlc, and killing all the enemies in the roon, and doing an idle animation at them gives you something, then go tuen those in at that room

First you have to free the prisoner. See from (1:29:39 - 1:31:15). After freeing him, you can find the prisoner at Santa Vigilia. Talk to him and he will give you The Prisoner Alterpiece. See from (2:15:14 - 2:17:15).

If you kill him, you can get the altarpiece from the merchant at the beginning of Crimson Rains, so if I had to guess, you can buy the bead from him if you spared the prisoner instead
