Meh, details details. Just a whole ocean (about 9020 km) of distance between Spain and Mexico 😆

I literally stopped the video and rewinded to see if I really heard him calling "mariachi" to flamenco. Such disrespect.

I'm trying to imagine Blasphemous 2 with actual Mariachi music now... somewhat different tone!

I first hated Blasphemous 2 because I loved B1 so much, it had so much content, the visual filters too were awesome. So when I played 2 like 2 weeks ago before the dlc released I was hating on it. Didn't like the artstyle change or the feel of combat. Until I started getting the new abilities, especially dash and wow. I love it. After the dlc too even better. Such a special sequel. Needs more content like the first and visual filters like the crtv ones.

I also felt the heavy change in style and was a bit bummed at first, but then I thought of the context and, I mean. In the first game the world is ruined by the Miracle's doings but it has been 1000 years since you've slain the High Wills (or whaterver their called in gringo) and the world has moved on, only because the Miracle is trying to resurrect the Penitent One is awaken again to this drastically different sight of Cvstodia. But yeah, the cutscenes are a bit of a letdown, just because they stand out so much.

B1 is Plagues of Egypt and overall feels like the Old Testament. B2 is Inferno from Divine Comedy and exudes Renaissance.

I feel like a paradox has been created: I agree with you that more weapons and magic made Blasphemous 2's combat better, but because of that the bosses have become easier, too. I only felt some challenge in Afilaor and obviously in Eviterno, in the other bosses the game was easy, the combat combinations leave the bosses without many options of defense, as the player learns to exploit his various fighting tools. Still, Blasphemous 2 is a wonderful game, it's just a matter of skill balance for the future games and it's a game that clearly can continue to exist for a Blasphemous 3 and even more. About the art, I also felt the changes and the visual cleanliness of Blasphemous 2 compared to Blasphemous 1, but that didn't bother me. I like it when the same franchise explores different ways to approach the same aesthetic, gives a certain signature to each game

I prefer the first Blasphemous. I still liked the sequel but the original had a very dark ominous tone to its world due to the pixel cut scenes, the big sprite bosses looking disturbing, and atmosphere. Also as a metal head I loved how it had metal bits in some soundtracks. The sequel seemed to stray away for a more beautiful / elegant tone in general. Which is fine but I prefer my dark edgy aesthetic more.

You calling yourself a blasphemous fanatic? I have combined 1.5k hours across pc ps4 and switch, saying blasphemous changed my life is not an overstatement. I ditched 3d art for pixel art and listen Carlos Viola almost every day and since I played Blasphemous j went back and finished over a dozen classic metroidvanias which made me fall in live in Castlevania series. I'm currently wearing a hoodie with crisanta and STILL watch blasphemous content on YT. Only one game ever influenced my life and mind before - fallout 2 back in 1998. It took me 3 hours of playing Blasphemous 2 (I paused for pizza and joint) to realise I don't like blasphemous 2 and I won't enjoy it. It feels like imitation and lacks the raw, gritty atmopshere of first one. I don't like vibrant backgrounds, lack of cracks on on walls, statues and people faces. And the worst part of it is - Blasphemous 2 is a top tier metroidvania, certainly one of the best modern games in this genre but it is not a truthful continuation of penitence... Sorrowful be the heart, penitent one.

1 was good. 2 pushed the bar out. Lore is everything in this game
@alexanderrobert7084Күн бұрын
except that the lore in the sequel sucks. All three endings are dissatisfying and jammed in there. Ironically the "bad" ending could've been the best if it was fleshed out at all.

I think the difference is that 2 focused more on movement and the 'metroidvania' aspect of the gameplay. 1 felt a lot more slower paced. The game felt a lot more 'dark soulsey' so to speak. I always felt 'just' powerful enough to overcome the next section, everything was a challenge. It was just you and your sword. Everything felt 'earned' in 1. 2, for me, lost some of that. The game was a little less tight in terms of that world building and overall I found the game easier on the whole - except for some hard as nails bosses. The individual areas felt less a challenge. However I much preferred the fluidity of movement and the focus on that metroidvania gamestyle. I loved zipping across the screen and chaining abilities together by switching weapons out to overcome challenges and solve puzzles. To go back to Dark Souls - Blasphemous feels similar in that, number 2 doesn't 'feel' like number 1. But I still had a great time with both.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Please, stop calling RPG elements the fact that you can change defenses and add some abilities and synergies. RPG stands for ROLE PLAYING GAME, just because you can choose your upgrades does not make a game an RPG, you know, like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Baldurs Gate. Thank you.
