Thank you so very much..There were only 3 upright 30 wave version models made before the video game crash.For some reasons they gravitated to the 20 wave version( both arcade and home console version).I thank Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar @ VidKidz/Williams Electronics for the final chapter of Defender/Stargate Defender/Robotron 2084 saga.

According to Larry Demar, the reason the game was shortened was because the game also allowed players to continue upon a game over, and they decided to remove the continue feature sometime after testing wrapped up, and so they also shortened the game so players would have to chance to finish it in one credit.

Holy shit. I’ve never seen this game. This is the ultimate 80s arcade game. Wish I had the chance to play it. Williams is an incredible game company.

Has this version been dumped? Why was the game shortened? Was it deemed too long by playtesters?
@ThunderFist197824 күн бұрын
Larry Demar said in an interview, which you can see on Arcade’s Greatest Hits Midway Collection 2 and on Midway Arcade Treasures 1, that the test version had a continue feature, which was a relatively new feature back then, and the decision was made to remove continues, and they decided to shorten the game so players had a chance to finish the game in one credit.

@@ThunderFist1978 Interesting! Has this version of the game been dumped?
@ThunderFist197824 күн бұрын
@@PiroKUSSIt looks like it was dumped around 2010, or at least that's when it was discovered.

Larry Demar talked about that stage in an interview for Arcade’s Greatest Hits Midway Collection 2. He also said that the reason the game went from 30 stages to 20 was because they decided to remove the option to continue, and removing 10 stages made it possible to beat in 1 credit. Unfortunately, the Outer Space stage ended up being a casualty because of that.

You don't know what you're talking about, it's a real game.

You are mistaken. This is definitely its own game, and I even talked with Larry Demar a bit about it in 2015 when I met him. Eugene Jarvis was there also, but Blaster came up more when Larry and I talked. Eugene and I talked more about Defender and Smash T.V.
