Happy 'Fit' New Year | Got Stopped By Police; Me Bad Boy!

Yikes, I got stopped by the police going over the limit while passing his unmarked cop car. How fast do you think I was going?
It's almost 2024 and New Years day. I talk about what is meaningful and most beneficial to me, now and in the new year. What do you want to change in the new year?

It's the best all around fitness for mind and body I think. I also practice Chi Gung, Tai Chi, and Meditation. So it goes from external to internal. One benefits the other. Yes, get back into it Mike :-)

There's tons of cops in our area I live near there. Usually they allow 10 over but passing a cop that was lucky he let you go for that. He was defiantly a nice guy as your were speeding could have been a ticket! Lucky! Happy almost New year.. crazy weather!!

Yes, I have noticed a lot of police presence in that area. I really thought it was a 60 zone and he was going well under that. My fault for sure for not paying attention to speed signs or the lack of. Lucky day for me and a good reminder to chill. Yeah, the weather; I love it. Happy New Year to you :-)

Cheers. Two satisfying things to do, or so I'm told regarding the fishing. I used to fish when I was young, if you can call it fishing. I lived in Windsor. We'd fish off a dock in the Detroit river. The fish (perch and bass) used to throw themselves at the bait, reeling up one after the other. I figured they just wanted a way out of the polluted river (late 50's early 60's) :-)

@@fredblogsmac.5697 Yikes, now that's cold. Most years we'll get down to minus 20°C, but usually it's fairly decent here in the Okanagan valley. A bit too grey in the winter but we more than make up for that in the warmer months where the sun and dry weather are the norm.

Oh i would trade my wife in on 2- 40 yr olds and get a few more bikes.... of course he didn't think you were 73 but if you were 22 or so a ticket would have been given however Canadian people are way more polite. even the police.

Happy New Year Scoot! By the way, that cop was 100% wrong in saying that you are not allowed to exceed the speed limit during a pass. If he was doing 58 and you tried passing him doing 60, it would take forever and NOT be a safe maneuver. Anyway, I'm glad he didn't write you up. As far as resolutions go, I never make them either. But in all honesty, if I could change something, I'd want to be more like you. I admire you calm demeanor. I'm 55 and I can still fly off the handle in a heartbeat. I think that's why I enjoy riding as you need to be so focused on what you are doing in the moment that you don't have time to get upset about anything (other than stupid drivers of course lol). Now that I've written that down, I think I'll post a note on my fridge that says "Be more like Scoot".

Thanks Dave, yup calmness is a real benefit for sure. Meditation helps with that. That struck me odd also, that exceeding the limit while passing is not legal. In this case, if I was correct regarding the speed limit, I wouldn't have exceeded while passing, but, I had the limit wrong so, my bad. You're right, riding or any activity that you become immersed in balances a person out nicely. I guess that's why they say you'll never see a motorcycle outside a psychiatrist's office :-)

Nope. Show me the law that says you are allowed to speed while passing, or at any other time in fact.

@@tombryant4518 I would suggest that not exceeding the speed limit during a pass could be construed as dangerous. If the limit was 60 and you were passing someone doing 55, it would take far too long to safely make the pass doing 60. I'm not saying to continue going above the limit after the pass has been made. I hope I never have to argue that in court but that would be my defense. The same could be said about me using the high beam on my motorcycle during the day time. Noy really legal but it helps people see me better and my personal safety supercedes any law in the books anywhere

It was a narrow escape, lol. I once saw a traffic cop in Spain during the Franco regime beat guy with a baton for a traffic offence. Glad I'm here in Canada :-)
