should we print it gloss or matt? gloss will give sharper edges i think, matt is going to bleed a little more

This is great to see. If anyone is worried about shimming their own lens. You should contact your local rental house, lens tech, or focus puller. They should be able to help you here.

DISCLAIMER: Before you go touching the shims in the lens, make sure your camera's native mount and any additional adapters are 100% accurate. Our lenses are individually shimmed BY HAND before we ship them, and most times, soft images are due to the camera's backfocus, not the Remus lenses.

Hey guys! What adapter do you recommend to adapt the ef mount version to Sony E? Currently I'm using a cheap one and I notice the flange distance is too far (they do it on purpose to ensure infinity) but it cripples the close focus, and I assume also image quality.

Just got mine and checked. Would say they are fine out of the box!

This comment saved me a lot of time! Double checked the PL mount on my camera and the previous owner had shims I never saw. Went and reshot after removing them and the Remus focus was MUCH better. Thanks for this comment. Y'all rock! :)

Is there any downside when I shim the lens with a different aperture set? I found it to be way easier to shim with T4 because the lens was sharper and I can see the differences easier.

Noob question: I use a DJi Focus Pro system with my Remus meaning that I have done a focus calibration on the DJi LiDAR system. Do I still need to shim the lens?
@cwinasia4 ай бұрын
Thanks, this was very helpful. I was able to verify that my 45 was good to go straight form the factory. To share my experience, I checked mine on two bodies, an R5 and an R3 and with a C7 PL to RF and a Mofage, all produced the same results. It did show me that it's hard to achieve a sharp infinity wide open but at 2.8 it was clear and that my R5 (sensor? viewfinder?) was a bit clearer. The Mofage seemed to give a hair more range at the far end, maybe the clear glass. Both adapters are great.

Curious where you got the 0.035 value. Does that have to do with the circle of confusion?

Amazing! Especially that no one would help around me here so I need to do it myself.

very good! Could you tell me how these lenses work on the micro 4/3 sensor, on the Panasonic Gh7, in relation to edge distortion? Is it smaller or larger than on a camera with a super 35 sensor?

how about the new 35 1.6 lens? what distance should be for super35 35 mm lens ?

Is the formula the same for Super 35 and Full Frame cameras?
@BlazarLensMarketing2 ай бұрын
Yes! No matter what format you shoot, the sharpness should be the same :)

What is the distance from the chart if I have the Remus 35mm lens at T1.6?
@robertgamperl4 ай бұрын
Do I do this, with the lens wide open, or always at 2.8? the 35mm has a 1.6 - usually you do this wide open. at 2.8 it's correct on my lens, at 1.6 it's not. According to your tutorial I have to remove shims, neither my lens adapter nor my lens has a shim, so I can't remove a shim. (PL Mount)

I have the EF mount Remus set. How do I unscrew the back of an EF mount lens for shimming? There's only one screw and it doesn't seem to loosen anything when removed
@JaviTitox9 ай бұрын
Did you solve it?
@jordanlee52829 ай бұрын
Yes, you have to rotate the black retaining ring, which is very difficult to do with your bare hands. I had to apply to thin strips of gaff tape and twist and pull upwards at the same time to get enough traction without pushing down on it too much@@JaviTitox

if i use my lenses on different cameras i need to shim them for every camera right ?
@blazaranamorphic9 ай бұрын
If you have multiple cameras with different mount adapter, yes, you should check back focus accuracy for each setup.
@BlazarLensMarketing6 ай бұрын
To clarify- you should make sure your camera's back focus is not the issue. Our lenses are shimmed by hand before we ship them, and most of the time, it's the camera's native mount or adapter that causes the issue. It doesn't make sense to shim a lens to an incorrect mount, or else you'd have to shim the lens every time you change cameras.

@@BlazarLensMarketing in the meantime i have my Set of remus lenses and i use the pl mount on the sony a1 and the ronin 4d. I use the nisi pl to e and the nisi pl to dl adapter and so far i am super happy and there is no need for shimming. Or it is so sharp that i do not feel the need to shim them

Everything is in focus at f2 but at f4 the horizon and vertical focus are different. Would shimming at a different aperture change the results?
@BlazarLensMarketing6 ай бұрын
Are you using a camera with an adapter? It sounds like your camera's back focus might be the problem here. Please make sure it's accurate before you try shimming the lens.

When you say the lens should be let’s say 1,60m. away from the chart do you mean from the front glass of the length or the sensor of the camera?
