In fact I would rather a bit more size than Saturns. Not to mention a 1.6 stretch is so weird. Komodo has a destretch, but most others don’t. Word in the hood is Sirui wants to be the first company to create autofocus anamorphic lens. Many Chinese companies are working in this direction . I got a set about a month ago and I love them. When I saw the release videos I was not at all fond of the distortion on the edges of the 45. However I saw some videos where it didn’t seem that bad and was curious why that was. Apparently if you shoot open gate you capture an image that doesn’t need to be cropped to fit into 2.39:1. Which is great for those who like the extreme distortion. However, on a 16:9 sensor at 2.39:1, it’s much more subdued and natural looking.

Recently got the Silver Flare Set from European distributor Cinegear NL. I chose the EF mount for convenience, compatibility (plays very well with BM 6K Pro) and - what I learned from this comprehensive review - easy access to the iris gear (as the EF mount sits flush with the outline of the lens) 🙃 I am very pleased with the initial tests on the Sony a7 IV although with the 2.67 aspect ratio we're approaching OG Ben Hur regions. Also, no problems with E-mount Speed Booster compatibility as only the rear element of 45mm barely protrudes the EF bayonet. Overall, amazing, versatile, beautiful glass. Pair it with a matte box to tame the blooming & flaring and it's a viable option for high-end work. Thank you for making this video!

Hello Tito, Thanks for making this review. I found it very helpful. I'm currently shooting raw video with the Canon 5D Mark III with Magic Lantern, and love it. It is possible to shoot 3:2 at 1920x1280, as you've discussed before in your videos. There is a 5.7K Raw Video 3:2 option, however it is limited to 15 fps. I don't know if Magic Lantern can make it 23.976 fps. Every time I try to change fps override to 23.976 fps, the camera freezes, and I have to pull out the battery. I see on Blazar's website there are Canon EF Mount adapters with the PL lenses. I have a few questions. Is there a Canon full frame camera that can shoot 3:2 in 4K and utilize Blazar's 1.5X Anamorphic lenses? I currently have my eye on the 33mm Blazar lens. If there isn't, are there full frame anamorphic lenses you would recommend that would work with Canon full frame cameras at a different aspect ratio? I'm thinking the Canon R5C or the R5. If Canon doesn't have a camera that is compatible with the Blazar 1.5x Anamorphic lenses, is there a camera you would recommend that can shoot 3:2 video (preferably raw video) that can use these Blazar 1.5X anamorphic lenses? Sorry for all the questions. I've tried researching this, and have found some answers, but nothing clear. You seem to know a lot about anamorphic shooting, as your channel name suggests, so I figured I would ask you. Please let me know. Thank you. - Paul

For modern, Id definitely go for them for choosing 45mm with T2 and Id welcome the softness 100%. Sure, if its cleaner image than the old ones, but, clean is fine, I can further fk it up with creative filters and experiments

Bought these from their Burbank office a few days before my trip to Asia. I’m on a dinosaur A7s2 that we are shooting a documentary on and mostly stayed with the 45mm the whole time save for some sit down interviews that I used the 65mm for (minus one that was including 3 participants at once where I used the 45mm). I have yet to get back to the states to really look at everything on a proper monitor but most of what I have looked at on my laptop has been pretty good. It is a bit hard unless you are in the Ladar or something to find that good focus when on a gimbal but most of the li led off stuff I did was very happy with. I’ve been wanting some anamorphic lenses for years so glad I grabbed these just in time to travel. So far I love the more classic look and the “flaws” feel more like vintage lenses in their character so am excited to play more focused on set with these soon

I have the full set and the segmented falre are a thing i agree on but you can get a few more reflections by simply adding a cheap uv filter, but mainly the color i simply wish all flares would have the same color... closer minimum focus would be cool but my way of dealing with that is a diopter on a uurig rapid filterholder that simply folds up

Even when cropping some of the edges, these lenses give more anamorphic character all throughout the frame than 1.33x Sirui does. You get the oval bokeh even in the center of the frame, which is very cool. With Sirui I can barely get it at the edge of the frame, starting with 50mm, at close focus.
