OMG the smoke effects look great!!....I loved that special near the end when Iron slams Ragna in the ground....and at the start of each match there's a zoom of the background, that looks splendid, this game and KOF XII are the best 2D fighters to date...

Beautiful vid. You can see the pure Guilty Gear inspiration in their fighting styles, but even further, even for only having 12 characters, They appear beautifully, 12 characters built from the ground up as opposed to rehashed and overly reused characters. The fighting system also seems slick. Thank god for Arc System Works.

Who knows, but I saw a PDF from a Sony event in 05/06 that stated a project from Arc Sys codenamed BB to release on PS3, so that makes me believe that it might come to PS3 at some point, but for now, it's only on Arcades.

um no tho, his "volcanic viper" or upper cut has 2 moves after it, so the full thing looks like it is three motions. while sols volcanic viper was 2 motions DF punch and DB kick. plus ragna is reminescent of order sol, but he does charge up, and judging from the basic move set all his moves require consecutive motions. Also his finishing move looks reminescent of the deadly rave bt with a different finisher.

No, Overture is set five after GG. Were as X is set less then a year after GG and XX is set three weeks after that. You do know that Sin is Ky's half-Gear son who was resized by Sol, right? Don't you think that that it would be a little weird that he isn't even mentioned in X series?

Well seeming that the EU version was announced months before Continuum Shift (I think....), I think that's what they'll do. Besides, the EU version is called Blazblue, no subtitle.

I'm not sure what resolution KoFXII is, but it's worth noting that BB is 1024x768 resolution, with sprites nearly twice as large as the ones in the Guilty Gear X series. Very impressive. The characters in BB are a bit derivative, but I don't really mind. It's almost like the creators wanted to do a Guilty Gear reboot with different character designs and some alterations to the story and system, rather than just rehashing more GG or doing something brand new.

Actually, Ragna's sword is strapped to his waist, his hands are free. When he draws, he usually uses a two-handed greatsword inspired style with heavy swings designed for single blow kills. I'm still holding hope.

the idea is very GG but I really gotta hand it to the director of project BB; he does the voice-overs for sol, helps work on the programming, writes all the music, AND plays lead guitar on the music tracks. there's a dude who's very passionately involved in his project.

Those are all different games and Tekken 6 doesn't come out till October anyway. The 12 characters will all have a unique fighting style so it seems like nothing, but they're all different.

Right, but the point is you don't get to the really unique characters until you see the minor chars (ABA/Venom in GG, Ukitake in bleach ds, Olimar in SSBB, the list could go on). And we won't see the minor chars until the game comes out.

Gotta look at it this way guys. Street Fighter 2 at it's height only had 12 characters. That was way back when now. Now take fresh graphics, new techniques, 12 new characters built from the ground up, a great soundtrack and a great atmosphere of a story to back it all up, that said, if you like 2d fighters, really no reason not to get this one.

Yea guilty gear overture is actually a sequel, five years after the xx saga(which) involves the post war admin. (the xx saga comes to a close with accent core plus story mode). Ky actually becomes a king of a country in guilty gear overture.

other character information has already been released and if you pay attention to the gameplay, while the characters bare resemblance to GG character, the characters of BB play differently from the characters of GG. I'm excited about this game. I loved GG and this looks even better to me.

this will be for the xbox 360 and ps3 so they might have DLC characters on the marketplace later just to get the game out with these 10 and develop new characters and have the time to do a good job on them with the game out already

I actually played this at Anime Expo '08 - pretty good stuff so far. BB does play similar to Guilty Gear. But at the same time, it's gameplay is a bit different, due to its somewhat slower pace/ground-based recovery system/guard meter system/combo system/etc.

in japan the letters "r" and "l" are interchangeable. So for example in one piece, they say ruffi instead of luffi, and im guessing the same with "b" and "v" So it should be saying level 1, but they kept it as rebel. Just an idea, im not sure though

I can't believe this passed under my radar for so long. My friend told me about it and said it was made by makers of Guilty Gear and I told him I'd take a look at the trailer. I looked at the trailer and told him: "Wait a minute, I've played this game before." And he said "Yeah, I know, it's made by the same guys who made..." "No, no, I mean: I"VE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE." its not the official successor (as in sequel), its the spiritual successor, which means it has nothing to do with the guilty gear storyline and its only similarities lie in the style, theme, etc. so its basically gg with different (but very similar) characters, moves, and settings. but i guess we still all agree that it looks awesome haha
