Klipsch reference series are bright? The original Klipsch Heritage series are very bright. And I'm pretty sure the "brightness" wasn't reduced by the crossover's. The brightness was reduced because Klipsch went from metal, to plastic, to plastic covered with a rubber like material.

Good review, after using the exact speakers I understand a lot of your points you made about the speakers. Its funny I just came across this review. In my bedroom theater I've been using the R-14M's as my main speakers for a while with a small Klipsch HTIAB setup for center and surround 4, 5, 6 & 7 speakers. Last month I purchased the R-34C (paid $399 so you got a smoking deal) as a new center channel and it blew away not only the old tiny center but it is also showing how weak the R-34m's are. Now I have ordered the Klipsch RP-4000F as my new mains to compliment the R-34C center channel, I am moving the R-14M's to my surround channels 4 & 5 and picking up another set of R-14M's for front height. All those upgrades because of that really nice R-34C center channel.

This lineup of Klipsch is very hard to beat at this price point, especially when you grab them on sale. I’m one of those weirdos that thinks the center channel and subwoofers have the largest impact on a system’s performance. It’s wise to put a good portion of your budget into those speakers. You are now heading down the slippery slope, that the upgrade path is. Enjoy the ride, my friend!

Haha! Yes you are:) Congratulations on the 9000! I have the 820, which I absolutely love, minus the build quality and size but the 9000 seems to have remedied both of those gripes.
@funtimeswithtom41084 жыл бұрын
@@blazermdx from the KZbin reviews I have seen the video portion on the 2 units are identical (with the exception of 1 or 2 settings) the 9000 audio section is supposed to be where the unit really shines. I was weighing the choices whether it was worth the extra money and in the end since I'm upgrading everything it seemed worth it to me.
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
I believe the case is metal and larger, with the 9000. I could be wrong, though. I like full sized gear. If I have a quality amp, mixed with a quality receiver mixed with a quality player, I would want to be able to stack them. I definitely can’t stack my Marantz amp on top of my 820. Not only the structure of the 820 makes me feel this way but the plastic cabinet also comes into olay here. This is one of the main reasons I miss my oppo. Can you let me know when you get your 9000? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again, buddy!

Klipsch has a very high $/performance ratio, especially with their “entry level” speakers like these. Hi. Do you recommend the r34c over the pioneer sp-c22? Thinking about upgrading if it's worth it! Thank you
@blazermdx2 жыл бұрын
What are your L/R speakers? Honestly, the SP-C22 is a good center channel speaker in medium to small rooms. The R-34C will get louder but I prefer the overall tone of the Pioneer. I would also try to match your L/R speakers as much as possible so if you’re using Pioneer mains, I would stick with the Pioneer center. I would just save up a little more and go with a Klipsch RP front stage, if you really want a good sized jump in performance. Thank you for the question, hopefully that helps a little:)

I am still not sure if I should buy the r-34c. BUT it seems the only one really fitting by height and depths under my TV. So sadly no real choice.... But another BUT, maybe paired with the RP-600 babies I think I like em.
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, I’d probably just save the money and run those RP-600 in a phantom center format. The center is so important that you would be better off just skipping it, until you can get a new entertainment arrangement, so you can fit a better center. I’ve had great success running phantom center setups. It’s all about speaker positioning and setup though. The R-34C isn’t a bad center or anything, it’s actually quite good. I just think the 600’s are a noticeable step up.

Are those tweeters actually producing excellent sound? Isn't a ribbon tweeter much clearer and more lifelike? I don't know, I haven't listened to as many speakers as you, but the Emit tweeters from Infinity, the electrostatic speakers from Martin Logan, and the ribbon tweeters that I have heard, in my opinion, sound better than a tweeter constructed like the one on this Klipsch and many other speakers. Am I dead wrong?
@blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
These speakers produce excellent sound, for their given price range. There are so many different styles tweeters that it’s hard to describe the differences. I’ve owned a few ribbon tweeters from brands like Martin Logan, Sunfire etc. I like the “airy” sound ribbon tweeters produce and they are very accurate. Ribbon tweeters, generally speaking, require more power and are more susceptible to being damaged being driven too loudly with too low of power but all tweeters can get damaged this way. Unfortunately, I would advise you to listen to different versions of tweeters, to see which style you like, then you can narrow down your speaker search. That’s part of the reason my audio journey never seems to end. I almost like listening to different speakers, to hear how different they can be, than I enjoy just listening for pleasure. I’m a bit of an extreme case though. Haha

@blazermdx2 жыл бұрын
The nice thing about home audio, is that you can enjoy it at all ages. Welcome! I would actually go with the RC-42 over the R-34C. This isn’t a popular opinion but based on my experience, the original Klipsch Reference lineup, like the RC-42 is, is a step up over the new Klipsch Reference. I’d actually hold out for a used Klipsch Reference Premiere Center, over both of your options. Or keep your eyes peeled for a RC-62, as they can be had fairly cheap. I usually buy my 4K movies on Amazon and at Best Buy, when they have sales. I usually save up and buy a ton during the holiday sales as you can save quite a bit of money of good titles. Klipsch are not very good speakers. Klipsch is the Mazda or the Subaru of the speaker world and that’s probably being generous. Their quality is mediocre at best, and you probably wouldn’t even make so many videos with Klipsch speakers if it wasn’t for the fact that Klipsch fits a lot of people’s budgets.

Subaru and Mazda has made some terrific vehicles over the years. They are a practical and high value choice for those folks out there with limited resources. With that said, some of the higher end Klipsch speakers have been some of the best I’ve ever heard, especially the heritage & Ultra2 lineups. There are definitely better sounding speakers out there but are there more fun speakers out there in certain budgets? That’s the question. @blazermdx4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you bought into the Klipsch marketing. If a woofer is graphite reinforced plastic, it’s still still mostly composed of plastic. In this series, the copper just refers to the color of the woofer. With that said, I do want the information on this channel to be accurate so I appreciate you bringing this up. I was going to say IMG in the video, as I actually did my research but after learning more about the actual composition of the woofers, I felt it would be more confusing than beneficial to the average viewer.
