Kanye's announcement of his new album's title and his favorite game made it seem like a good time to upload this gem and system seller. This is absolutely head and shoulders above anything else you could play at home in 1989. Blazing Lazers marked the TG16 as the shoot 'em up fan's "go-to" system - a distinction that the Turbo carried through most of its life, even when put against the SNES and the Genesis.

Can I just say that I love this game. It was a launch game for the TG-16 and one of the very best. Blazing Lazers should have been the pack-in game and not Kieth Courage in Alpha Zones...or even better both should have made it in. That may have just been enough to sway many of us who decided not to go with the TG-16 at launch (or at all). Blazing Lazers had incredible graphics, and the music is unlike any other game before it. It definitely deserves to be seen as one of the best shmup's ever made. It took a very long time before another game really upstaged it. It's definitely on par with Thunder Force I-III.

@@DigitalSmokeStudiosOfficial Yeah, I find the 8 way secret shot combined with IV and F and to be very effective on stages 3-7, but the bubbles fuck me over and leave me underpowered for 9 with its BS checkpoints. Argh.
@AlchemistTongueDrums3 жыл бұрын
@@holidayinn4293 I finally 1cc'd this game a few days after that post. I ended up not bothering with the 8 way. I primarily used the laser and spreadshots with shield. The trick for me to survive through 9 was to collect all the flashing orbs that I could. You get those by shooting the alternating weapon or powerup orbs until they flash. Each one you get in addition to clearing the screen also turns your ship stock thing gold, meaning each one lets you avoid a check point. I survived with almost no deaths to stage 9 and when things went south near the end I had enough continues saved up to just bomb through and use all my excess lives while picking up any powerups I could. It was a scrappy clear but it worked lol.
@halwakka5043 жыл бұрын
The 8 way shot combined with homing missiles is very effective later on. A lot of people don't seem to realize that homing missiles also upgrade with purple gels so that they shoot as fast as type I shots, turn on a dime and do a decent amount of damage, and you get 8 of 'em with the Type I weapon. Best part of all is they don't downgrade like main weapons if you get hit, they stay at their max level which can make a HUGE difference in later levels where you're likely to be hit from time to time, losing primary weapon levels.

Yea Blazing Lazers was def a 10. Each time you finish the game, it restarts you at level 1 on the next difficulty level; I've gotten almost halfway through the third difficulty . I've used the cheat code to try the fourth level of difficulty (I thik it's called God of Game?) but I've never gotten past level 2, it's ridiculously hard.
