As in, they can be killed, but they never age, no matter how much time passes: a century, or millennium.

That Sternritter guy (Hubert) you guys can't recognize has only appeared once and it was during a split second... as one of the skeletons raised by Yamamoto's bankai. He was killed by Yama during the first war.

In case you have doubts if Jugram considered Bazz B a friend in present times, you might wanna take a look at the hilt on Jugram's sword before the fight starts. The moment is very brief, but it's around the 3:47 mark in the episode.

It seems complicated timeline wise, but since this takes place just before the Soul Society invasion seen in episode 6, this is 1,000 years ago. Ywach also had those eyes since he was young, but Ichebi sealed them during their meeting. The location isn't named, but it seems like a mish mash of European cultures with mostly German influence. People speculate with his future sight eyes, Ywach looked into the future to create more modern weaponry for his forces to easily consolidate his power.

To further add to this, Hubert does show up again. He was one of the skeletons Yamamoto brought back to fight Royd Loyd pretending to be Ywach. Hubert is the name Royd said out loud during the attack. So this group of officers died during that assault 1,000 years ago.

Shortly after, Ywach invaded Soul Society, which was One Thousand Years ago. That's why it's called the Thousand Years of Blood War arc. Yamaoto even mentions Ywach invaded a thousand years ago.

@@DemonLordSparda It's Thousand Year Blood War because the war happened a thousand years ago. But the flashback, specifically, happened even earlier than that. Considering the meeting has yet to happen and the Sternritters were just being created, there's no way the flashback happened just 1000 years in the past. Quincies also have abnormal lifespans like Shinigamis and Arrancars, so it's not unreasonable.

Also yeah unfortunately because of everything Haschwalth is fully indoctrinated and loyal to Yhwach but Haschwalth's sadness is more subtle In the manga after he kills Bazz when Haschwalth walks up the stairs its actually more implied he holds his arm the same way he does when he was a child as a trauma response. In the anime he walks up the stairs off balance thematically fitting for him specifically

You can see that Lt. Commander Hubert was briefly in Episode 6 of TYBW when Yama used his Bankai South version to revive the dead quincies killed by him. There you can also see the other quincies that died during the first invasion of the Soul Society thousand years ago.

The tragedy does go further. When Yhwach destroyed Bazz-b's home and family that made him happy, he also destroyed Haschwalth's home and family that made him miserable. I dont think Bazz-bs ever really thought once about asking more about Jugo's personal life, just all about revenge on the man that saved Jugo.

Bazz was actually the only one of the 2 being a good friend he had this quest to kill the one who killed his parents yet never even tried abandoning Jugram knowing Jugram would do next to nothing to yhwach or any other quincy. Jugram was the one who betrayed Bazz and never disagreed with Bazz until he realized he was more powerful and that the strongest quincy cared for him so he let it get to his head and betrayed bazz. You're right it's not that complicated Jugram is a horrible person who betrayed his friend then killed him while Bazz saved Jugram and spent 5 years training with him and treating him like a brother just to get abandoned by that brother who he cared for.

@ReeseMontana-q2u Bazz-B didn't realise that Jugram didn't. He said "we didn't say it but we both trained to kill Ywhach" or something along those lines during the campfire scene. Bazz-B didn't know Jugram was being abused and just assumed he also wanted revenge. Bazz-B's narration presumes that Jugram also wanted revenge against Ywhach and that his "betrayal" was a surprise because of that. Bazz-B is naive and then he's single-minded so his narration doesn't really reflect what Jugram is going through and what Jugram is thinking, even as a kid. Jugram didn't have anyone other than Bazz-B, who essentially saw himself as superior to Jugram in all ways and not really as a friend but as a follower. When Ywhach came and told Jugram he was important, that's the first time Jugram has ever not felt like a pathetic being not worth anything. For Jugram, Ywhach became the father he never had and a good one at that.
