This episode was epic with what it animated but the only thing it was missing were the reactions of the Sternritters to the meteor. To me it added more of a sense of danger to the meteor. Can’t image why they chose to cut that out. Especially Haschwalth’s and Yhwach’s reaction.

I notice that too, this bleach TYBW arc have no spiritual pressure effect from characters like the old bleach had in previous arcs, being the spiritual pressure a distortion in the screen and being a physical weight in the characters body. I miss that a lot. That effect always made huge impact in characters and served as a scale to show how powerful some character were.

A lot of things in this episode did feel like it went by too fast and didn’t even left things to breathe. I think they could have expanded it into 1.5 episodes and ended the following one with Ichigo finally arriving. There’s the famous meteor reactions you get from everyone in the Sereitei that was cut of course but there’s also the small things like Kensei and Rose’s deaths. Instead of showing that scene of Isane to confirm they are dead, it just jumps to Yachiru attacking, like Kensei and Rose mattered that little. I know they don’t end up dying and come back but it went by so fast that some people didn’t even notice they died temporarily in that scene. That scream that Isane did when she yelled, “NOW!” was great though. Kinda gave me chills.

I agree. I think some of the same things happened with episode 6 where it felt like there wasn't any room to breath in the fight between Rukia and As Nodt making some of the scenes with As Nodt less impactful (until Rukia does her Bankai which is just 1:1 with the manga). For example As' vollastandig transformation gets 3 seconds of initial showcase before immediately going back into the fight which makes it less impactful and not seem like that big of a deal compared to that of a lot of other transformations in Bleach (I believe this somewhat happens with Kenpachi's shikai reveal but not nearly as bad). It just seemed like they were trying to get to the next scene as fast as possible instead of letting things settle a little to showcase off when something cool happens.

There have been several episodes where if the OP or ED were cut, it would have helped with an episode's pacing. Last week they proved that they can cut the ED for example if they want to, and yet here, where they adapt the most material ever, they decide to not cut the OP and ED which would have given the episode an extra 3 minutes. You could have easily fit all of Askin and Pepe's conversation as well as the reactions to the meteor by doing that. Even just cutting one of the two would still have given enough time for the meteor reactions at the very least.

The only Criticism I have from this episode is that they shouldn't have removed the reaction of sternriter and Soul Reapers from the Anime.That scene in manga felt like it's actually crazy shit happening and even the enemies are terrified . I didn't like how they cut out the bazz-b and askin lines. Because like,those lines made the scene more impactful,not just the shinigamis were afraid but the quincys too. They were all fightning and they stopped to look up because of the fucking meteor coming down. In the anime they made look like only the shinigamis were afraid and idk the scale of the scene was smaller or at least felt like that. But the episode was really good and I don't think this was the weakest, I believe bazz-b vs toushirou is that one.(sorry my english is really bad).

While I get why some were a bit underwhelmed by this episode, I always felt that the Rukia and Renji fights were better fights overall. The battle with As Nodt especially had a lot of emotional weight to it, while Kenpachi vs Gremmy was meant to be more of a large spectacle. I do agree that it probably would have benefited from being allowed to be covered over one and a half episode. The reactions to the meteor and Gremmy’s body rupturing would definitely have benefited from a bit more time to let those moments sink in. Still, it was a pretty solid episode, and I am now quite sure that Ichibe vs Yhwach is going to be the true showstopper fight of this cour.

Agreed. I definitely was looking forward to both Renji's and Rukia's battles because of the narrative weight of like a rematch/revenge match type deals more than Kenpachi's fight. I just found theirs more interesting and impactful atleast character development wise. With all the cuts and fast pace it's more of an 7/10 for me personally...I'm just too irked by the exclusion of the crowd reactions and other cuts to rank it any higher.

As a manga reader, I am not mad about the cut content, but even for me it felt really fast. Animation wise it was amazing, with excellent action scenes and character acting, but it didn't really do Gremmy justice. Another thing I noticed is as if the staff handles fights like they should be over the same episode they started. I think that is why they adapted almost 9 chapters. I could be wrong, though.

Personally I feel this entire final arc has felt more like a 1 off anime. Threat proposed, threat eliminated, end of episode. I don't feel the whole overlooming story, like everyone isn't working together for a common goal, it's just each person gets a fight, they win, then they're never talked about again. Where as all the other seasons they had 1 main goal and everyone worked together to try and complete it. This entire arc just feels rushed in my eyes but it's so nice to see it animated after so long I can look past it.

I think I know why renji, bazz b, & everyone's reactions about gremmy's Meteor, are removed. It's probs because that it would contradict everyone's scaling above it, thus fixing that inconsistency. So narratively in the Anime, everyone after this Arc, scales above Gremmy's Meteor.

Probably my favorite fight of the whole new bleach series (kenpachi fanboy soooo) it was very well done and the fast pacing worked well since gremmy imagines things fast. Definitely agree this episode should have been 1.5-2 episodes. Love kenpachi but his battle compared to others was weaker just due to how weak gremmy looked. The episode was still good with the Yachiru and Kenpachi shikai reveals, but you make an extremely valid point: this battle was way too short and did not evoke the same emotions as Rukia's battle. I think your analysis is spot on here. I also think about 1.5 episodes for this battle would have made it feel about right and would have given it room to flesh everything out. I do love Yachiru interactions and am now sad 😭 since we won't see much of her anymore. Kenpachi really shows his growth up to this point with his towering figure and presence. I do also think they did justice to that interaction with Isane with him assuming the Kenpachi title. Looking forward to the next episode!

Imo the anime handled it well, gotta remember that ofc certain moments are gonna feel diff in the manga because we had to wait for certain chapters to release for this fight in the span of two months. I’m mostly happy that this fight was left to 1 ep because the last time a big fight was stretched out between two eps almost everyone was disappointed with the flow/tension of everything & now here are some disappointed once again. Only complaint that I find valid imo is the cut reactions of soldats bazz b askin & renji. ywach/jugrams reactions never made sense to me because I mean it’s ywach😂. Also after rewatching the ep I felt that only gremmys title card was jarring/rushed, post credit scene mixed in with the ost & beautiful affects actually made me like the anime version a lil more then the mangas. I also see that a lot of people had high expectations of additional content to this fight but using that as a means of rating is unfair because additional content is a given at the end of the day & I never go into these fights expecting additional content especially when the fight imo are already good for the most part. So wanting the fight in particular to be what some would say “fleshed out” is not a fault on the anime team but a fault on kubo being the fight minus reactions was 1 to 1. Great character acting, fluid animation, stellar storyboarding, great usage of ost, & the most important parts when you think about gremmy vs kenpachi which is kenpachi cutting the meteor & revealing his shikai were done justice, 9.5/10 ep.

Strangely enough, while there were quite a few disappointing omissions because of it, I felt the pacing itself actually wasn’t that bad overall. Yeah, I would have preferred a more ideal pace and have this fight go into the next episode too, but this episode further highlights two things for me. 1. While arguably better than the manga as a whole, the anime isn’t trying to be the “definitive” version. It’s best to experience both. 2. Even though it’s a shame, cutting stuff is a necessary sacrifice. Adapting this much into an episode (which honestly could have gone WAY worse) should have freed up quite a bit of room for later in the cour. An extended Squad 0 fight is looking more likely now, especially if next episode adapts a lot of chapters as well.

The beginning was fine, but once we get to Kenpachi vs Gremmy I think it needed to be slowed down. Taking out the reaction from everyone seeing the meteor was just the wrong move. I think the climax of the episode should of been Kenpachi cutting the meteor in half, and we see his Shikai and that’s it. Honestly they could have spread this fight over two episodes by throwing in all the reactions of the characters that were on the battlefield, and they could have added some stuff from the past to cover the time and explain the characters a little better, and everything would be better covered in two episodes.

I retract my earlier comment maybe this should have been a two Parter or maybe it could’ve been good if they removed the outro music for a few more scenes like the one where everyone reacts to the the meteorite falling. Or the last few panels showing Grammys defeat. Or even having a little more explanation on sanpou kenju

While I do understand the criticism of how Gremmy went out in the anime with the sad somber music was anticlimactic, but personally I think it did it for me because of Gremmy’s VA pulling it off exceptionally well. I think the anime did the Kenpachi vs Gremmy justice in my book. Wished they could’ve added the reactions of other Sternritters seeing Gremmy summoning a meteorite from the sky. I’m still looking forward for next episode involving my personal favorite group, the Bambies/Femritters since Kubo did say he was going to add more scenes with them. And that’s got me even more hyped than ever.

If this episode adapts a lot next week will be very close as it will adapt the Headless Star chapters which go up to chapter 588 which is another 8-9 chapters (unless they cut it off earlier).

In my opinion, the main problem of Bleach fans is that because of their great interest in this story, they criticize the anime unfairly, just like the analysis of this dear friend. It's like everyone is wondering why there are so many chapters of Bleach manga in one episode: adding new scenes and story to fix the problems of the manga, especially in the 3rd and 4th seasons of the anime. Please be fair

That's the problem in setting the expectations so high. No matter what, you'll eventually be disappointed. Probably this episode might get some extra minutes on Blu-Ray, so we might still enjoy a definitive version of this fight later. I hope the production team is aware of this and will make some amends down the line. Other than that, the episode was a treat as usual.

I definitely felt the episode was underwhelming, dont get me wrong alot of the moments with gremmy and kenpachi were great, gun scene plus meteor scene were perfection but the galaxy scene felt very jarring and horrendous in my opinion. The scale was non existence plus kenny cutting space felt way to sudden without letting the scene breathe. The pacing issues was a major factor as well. Overall it was still a 8.5 episode and i still enjoyed it👍

The anime fight didn't achieve the global scale it was supposed to. But brilliant animation and fx. I would have liked to see Kenpachi's Shikai hashed out through his back story.

this episode really gave me mixed feelings. the fight was one of the most aniticipated for many people, at least for cour 2. but I can't help but feel a lot of the weight of Gremmy's insane powers were removed. Gremmy dropping a meteor, and even Haschwalt being afraid for Ywach. honestly Gremmy's ending being a post credit scene also just kind of feel less impactful.

I found the episode good enough. I don't think the manga ever gave me a reason to get attached to Gremmy for any reason. My focus was all on Kenpachi, so I didn't feel like I missed out on anything in the experience. I do understand your gripes with the episode though.

as manga reader, all cut scene in this episode i really don't mind it, bc i have researching for bleach manga and get all unspoken facts in the entire series, and for this episode i can see their perspective tbh, bc all important thing didn't cut and i kinda feel the animator and kubo reveal it to me, bc all scene in this episode are just prove that what i get from this event is true, i don't know if there is other people who can get what i mean, but it doesn't matter at least im happy to get that.

I have the same lackluster going into it cause people spammed it to be a 10/10. The studio should've kept the meteor section and kids watch the anime the gore is censored. It really should've been am episode and a half but they're rushing it. They might of wanted the same affect zarakai had on the fans during the full bring arc fight combined with praying mantis fight
