Its the opposite. His imagination coming into realty requires power, thats why he need 2 of him for the meteor, and why he needed 5 to created a pocket dimension of space. He also has to believe what he imagines will have the effect it does so if something fails once he wont believe it can work if he tries again. Kenpachi was so strong that he didn't have the power to materialize anything that could actually end him because he himself has a power limitation. Its not really that he is lacking in imagination.

Yes it is shown that gremmy clearly has a limit, but he is suppose to be a "monster" just like Gérard. And he was using soul king ability at its fullest. Gremmy has the brain of the soul king, yet he has limits? That's proof that people wank the gremmy and the soul king. The more clones gremmy makes, the stronger his imagination. Gremmy was to dumb to realise he could have cloned himself more to reach kenpachi power. Or it could be just bad/ rushed writing. Kubo was trying to peak with this arc but it is what it is.

You know what…after reviewing this fight and thinking about it more…Gremmy’s defeat isn’t the worst thing; it actually works. Like his imagination is larger than what his body/vessel can contain. Remember, he had to duplicate himself to do the meteor. And make like 7 of him to create the pocket space dimension. So when he tried to achieve a power even greater than that to go beyond kenpachi’s strength, he tried to do it only in one body. The preverbal jar broke after being overfilled. Like he isn’t YHWCH, he isn’t a Demi-god with limitless potential.

Gremmy's power's limitations I think were "explained" with the ending of the fight, being that: 1- he can't just imagine certain people dead. Whether it's because Kenny is so strong, or that the rumors he heard made it impossible to kill him, ala -> "what if I can't kill him because he's a monster?!" - since he clearly has heard all these things about what a monster he is as a special war threat. He also says "just as I imagined" and "famous Kenpachi" before they started fighting. 2- he can't imagine things that are unimaginable TO HIM. Since he couldn't grasp Kenny's strength, he couldn't truly be as strong as him, thus he essentially zero summed himself by running his power "infinitely" out 3- clearly a double edged sword power, since it's what caused him to lose, and die. (I personally think that not only did he hear rumors about Kenny, I believe Gremmy unconsciously used his powers and imagined Kenny as an unkillable, extremely powerful monster, explaining how he survived outer space or the ground crushing.) Gremmy wanting to become as strong as him imagined the monster he saw from the very beginning, and it may have just gotten worse and worse since he just ignored gremmy's attacks.

So like, he got lost in fallacious thinking? The way I'm seeing it is that he imagined Kenpachi was a monster. Then tried to make himself stronger than a monster. Therefore imagining himself as a strong monster and not as Gremmy, a Quincy with imagination powers. Therefore Gremmy ceased to exist. Which wasn't the case because somewhere in his mind he was simply a consciousness portrayed as a brain and still Gremmy who came back as a ghost. But at that point he was far too removed from reality and lost in fallacy so he imagined himself into oblivion. This is how I just made sense of it so now I will be moving on from this because I'll think myself inyo oblivion as well
