The softer flannels from Walmart don’t finish well because it shreds. The bleach finds the weak spots. I had 3 same brand cotton t-shirts that 2 did NOT bleach and the 3rd one didn’t.

I hate that! My Walmart ones are still going strong 3-4 years later. Are you using peroxide to stop the bleaching process?

Where do you get your stencils from? I really like the country one with the chicken.
@SisterhoodoftheTravelingBrush3 жыл бұрын
I believe I got that one at Essential Stencil. If not, likely Hobby Lobby. essentialstencil.com?rfsn=2275512.e7ec03&utm_ campaign=2275512.e7ec03

@@SisterhoodoftheTravelingBrush I found the one stencil at essential stencil however, it was the stick on chicken and country lettering that you peeled off that I am really interested in finding. Any help with those?

Linda, if it was stick on, I likely made it with my Silhouette and vinyl.

@@SisterhoodoftheTravelingBrush Yes it was stick on and you pulled it off. Was hoping to be able to purchase somewhere and make something similar. I have a cricket but still in the box. Have no idea how to even start.

The cover photo/thumbnail here is of the completed shirt, and the ones hanging on the display at the end are of them.

Thank you! I’m just learning and this was helpful! Do you wash your flannels as soon as your done with them?
@SisterhoodoftheTravelingBrush2 жыл бұрын
yes, I do, to help stop the bleaching action

The following information can’t help you now and you’ll probably find out before you get this comment but looks like you didn’t prewash the sizing out of your shirts first is the main problem and you might have diluted your bleach a little too much. 100% cotton will discharge and over dye. Too long in the bleach and it will disintegrate. If you added fabric softener to the wash that will effect the results as well.

Most of the shirts were previously used, so that worked out, and it has been 3 years and I am still wearing them, but I have definitely learned a lot since then. I don’t use fabric softener, so that wasn’t an issue. On my next batch, I am going to try the sprayer technique that my daughter uses for t-shirts, and I am excited to see how they turn out. Thanks for the tips!
