@@JHMninja89 That wouldn't have been possible with the way the strap slipped and the position they were in. Pretty much every major name in Arm Wrestling has watched this footage and collectively decided that once the strap slipped, Jerry had NO way to pin Michael. Jerry could have put his palm flat on the mat and it still wouldn't have pinned Michael. The round should have been restarted as soon as the strap slipped to the point only their fingers were touching.

@@haleyfremming9440 Even if what you say is true, Michael Todd did no wrong AND there is STILL another way to win and that is to try to make your opponent elbow foul. So even if the experts are correct in that there isn't a position to pin, there are still ways to win, albeit not in a way that is preferable to the reputation of the sport.

Man... If it's not in the rulebook it needs to be. If the strap comes loose like that the match should have been stopped. If anything to avoid potential injury to both pullers. I wouldn't feel like a champion having to win with fouls. That's just me though.
@sfrank853
@sfrank853 5 жыл бұрын
breakinboy11 Couldn’t agree more to that. He was supposed to be more of sportsman in taking his win with dominating and unquestionable stance rather than relying on controversial rules which isn’t even written for such bizarrely odd situation “Chaffee lifted off his elbow to quit” while “Jerry did it solely because it was bizarrely absurd position” and it was advantageous for Jerry, but for Todd, with fingers and arm bent back, it was potentially injurious position and Jerry did it with the intent of preventing any injury -Todd simply took advantage of that. No rules can justify the fact that Jerry was in fabulous, he could have ended the match by pressing him to the pad, resulting in fractured fingers or torn ligament of Micheal Todd. But Jerry didn’t do that, he has higher moral ground for taking victory, but Todd just took advantage of this opportunity. Let me give you an example of champion’s gesture and sportsmanship. Denis technically won the match by the rules, but he still let Devon has the opportunity to pull him in the last round to establish the authenticity of his victory beyond reproach. That’s how champion is supposed to be acting instead of running around the arena, making drama out of this situation. Take froude haugland match with mike selaris, he wasn’t convinced in the last round, haugland gave him another go despite being declared victorious by bart. Haugland still pinned mike but this time, he earned the respect of entire arena for being better sportsman, not taking objectionable victory. Mike hugged and raised his arm with immense respect.

Common sense should be allowed when officiating a match. There is probably nothing in the rule book that says if there is a drive by shooting and a competitor gets shot while pulling to stop the match... How can it not be obvious the match should be restarted when the strap fails, it's not like Jerry can push his arm literally through the table in order to get a pin with the strap like that. So just because something isn't spelled out for you in the rule book shouldn't mean you can't make a call using simple common sense. We aren't robots yet.

BananaGamer Over9000 it’s just about being true to the spirit of sportsmanship. Remember the last match of todd with Jerry, Todd stops pulling in the middle of match to complain, and bart stopped the match. When Jerry asked why you stopped the match over and over, he had no response. Watch this kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6K0e3-LptathZI How many times todd lifted off his elbow, Jerry never attempted on using those foul to take victory instead he allowed to take as many opportunities as he can, kept himself on higher moral ground, he could have simply won the match technically by rules, but he didn’t resort to his victory by taking advantage of rules. Rules were at that time too, but jerry never relied on complaining or ending the match in WAL 403. It was up to the contender to seize the victory beyond reproach or to use rules solely as the basis for his victory

how can a "professional" league end a champion match like this? everyone could see that a pin would not be possible in the end! of course you have to reset the strap! and first bart said: "no we are not ending it like this!" and after michael said he wont pull again they gave him the win! oh man, what a joke! michael todds behaviour in the end is beyond embarrassing. He can have as many rings, hammers or whatever he likes, but he is definatly not a champion!

And why is lifting your elbow off the pad more than one foul??(with respect to the Dave Chaffee reference even tho that was different) I don’t get it. If I lift my elbow off the pad, at what point does the first foul become two fouls, right? Will you wait 3 seconds and then give me the second foul?? Timing it would just be absurd. I think if you lift your elbow it’s one foul no matter how long you keep it up, and when you put it back and lift it again it’s the second foul. And if you’re gonna say “what if he keeps his elbow up for ten seconds and tries to pin”, then just ignore the pin m8??? Cuz it’s illegal. SOMEONE SOLIDIFY THESE RULES

@Jon Bishoff Devon cheats all the time as well. I can tell you are a casual. It's not about me "knowing more" than the refs. It's a combination of them not seeing it, and not being dedicated to fairness enough. 5:43 - elbow foul 9:00 - elbow foul 10:20 - elbow foul 16:09 - hus arm is blocking it, but you can tell it came off the pad. Bart notices it and Todd puts it back, Bart shakes his head. 25:35 - (0.25x speed) MT commits elbow foul first as he (perhaps purposefully) pulls Jerry's elbow off his pad 31:21 - tip of elbow in the air, only tricep is touching pad. This essentially makes his arm taller, which makes climbing much easier, as it yields upward force. It also brings other muscles into the equation. He commits this foul at 31:23, 31:26, 31:34, 31:47 as well. Now go watch WAL 403 Jerry vs Todd and watch how he keeps his elbow off the BACK of the pad, only having his forearm on the pad. He does this to take pressure off his elbow joint and rely on his bone lock (his arm cannot fully straighten) to tire Jerry out.

1. Neil is an awesome commentator who said he will get the rules changed for THE STRAP coming loose like that and PEOPLE walking off like MMT. This match was incredibly important for the future of WAL. EVERYTHING happens for a reason and these two men are brilliant in their own ways. 2. MMT should have calmed down but the frustation is understandable. Alot of work goes into fighting for matches like this and WAL do need to ref better. He is listening to the public (barely any underthetable Kings move, he's just passionate about winning). Bart is simply listening to what he's been given. 3. Larratts in both corners haha. Shizmoo who are you arguing with? No one is saying that Jerry should’ve got the win. He mad a bad judgment call. Michael Todd clearly won based on these broken rules. But the way he acts is an embarrassment to himself and his family. He lacks intellect, composure, and integrity. And he will be remembered for these characteristics rather than his accomplishments on the table. Legacy means nothing to this man. Self respect means nothing to him. This is why a majority of the people can’t stand him. And why most don’t respect him. Michael is not a true champion.

Exactly but one thing is true that Michael Todd said he was listening to Devon and Devon is full of all kinds of b******* tricks to win it should be about power and technique but it not . It's about bending the rules and exploiting them but that is Devin Style just FYI Devon is one of my favorite arm wrestlers I'm just stating the facts and Michael Todd has no power he is defensive all day with everybody in the kings move and that's it and without it he's nothing

Put yourself in his shoes. You have trained hard and are just about to win but your opponent lifts his hand off the pad. Twice. He let it go the first time in one of the earlier rounds by complaining to the ref but not making a scene and the match got reset. But a second time? Its just ridiculous. You can't just lift your hand off the pad when you are about to lose and have the match reset. What kind of arm wrestling would that be? He also has a point that Dave lost to Devon exactly because he lifted his arm and forfeited. Can't have double standards.

@@Sychonut there is one big difference and that's the strap. Both situations are not equal because todd can just lay back all day in that position with the strap loose, its literally impossible to press anyone with a strap in that position. Its 100% the fault of the organization that the match wasn't reset, everything that happened once the strap went loose is irrelevant IMO. Todd makes excuse after excuse after excuse and he's always injured in every match or any loss he takes. So it doesn't surprise me 1 bit that a match would end this way.

@@DeeJay_USA Jerry lifted his hand off the pad in one of the earlier rounds as well. What about that? Even then, this is not on Michael. If anything, it is on Jerry (the earlier round), and Bart (for not calling a rematch the last round), but not on Michael. Look I am no fan of Michael and I don't like his style, but you need to be fair. The moment we start playing favorites in any form of judgement in sport (or in life for that matter) justice is out of the window.
