A comment on bench bleeding. I bench bled(?) with the reservoirs (2 for a 1977) and master cylinder installed in the car. Got a couple of inexpensive bench bleeder kits from Amazon for the fittings, and some generic clear tubing that I cut for the extra length needed to return the fluid to the mounted reservoirs. Doing this first made bleeding at the calipers a little faster and easier. Also tried vacuum bleeding and pressure bleeding at the calipers. Old-school buddy bleeding gave me the best pedal feel. Great series! Keep them coming.

What about the compensator. Did you have load on it to bleed?
@GarageTimeTV2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t have any issues bleeding it.

I think it’s important to point out that the brake fluid to use should be Dot3 and not synthetic nor Dot4…apparently 40 yrs old car likes it when it aged in “bourbon caskets”…lol

That’s a very good point! The manual does say dot3. Old cars are picky with fluids as you say. “Acquired tastes”

So did you figure out the brake compensator yet? You can't get fluid to the back calipers untill that is relaxed.

Mine is good. I got plenty of fluid to the back and was able to have my wife hold the pedal for me (off camera). I was able to spin the rotor and she would hit the brake and it would stop like it should.

Thanks. I was leaning towards buying the H/F bleeder when time comes but now I'll pass and just press one of my sons into service. BTW, I wound up having to take those rotors to a brake shop and have the hubs pressed out. I figured you'd want to know how that magilla turned out...
