Bleeding Promax Decipher Hydraulic Brakes - DOT 4/5.1

So I found an avid brake bleed kit on Amazon can I use that ? And couldn't you just remove the top screw to use the adapter you had🤔

wow, this was a long time ago. yes, avid compatible bleed kits should work. as for the top screw you're referring to, that had to also be removed, but because the knurled flange on the Avid adapter is such a large diameter, it couldn't spin in far enough on that caliper. Hence the mill work. great questions. I should have made a better video during the process instead of just after.

Hello 👋 i have the same brakes, I flushed them and the brakes are still very weak. I'm positive there isn't any air bubbles in the system but the braking power is not enough. Any ideas?

That's the same frustration I run into with this style of brake. The trouble is that it is hard to get a vacuum on this when bleeding new fluid into it. hydraulic fluid (DOT) harbors microscopic bubbles and it can be a headache to get air out of it. If possible, try removing the caliper from the bike and rotate it around to loosen up and bubbles that might be hiding in some crevice inside. Maybe even tap it a little. Try the same with lever by removing it from the handlebar. Obviously, don't detach the hydraulic line. This method can sometimes free up those bubbles and relieve the issue. Otherwise, you might need to get this brake into the shop where a tech can get some hands on. You may have issues with master-cylinder "blow-by", an effect where the seals on the master cylinder are letting hydraulic fluid past during a braking cycle. This prevents the build up of pressure in the line which does the braking. There could be other problems too. But those can be difficult to diagnose. I hope this helps at least a little!

Hello, I have these brakes. What type of pads do these brakes use? Are Shimano pads suitable for this product?

I'm sorry, i don't recall which pads they use, but i think they were this one: perfectbrakes.com/bicycle/promax/decipher/HYDRAULIC/4000240 worth double checking when you pull yours out.

I would recommend tracking down some DOT 4 at a minimum. Hope you can find some!
