Having seen the first and second episodes, this isn't the funniest show, but it has layers. Theres a lot more depth in this than any other sitcom on TV right now. I see and hear a lot of my Father in 'Ed'. The failure to edit himself. The refusal to share an emotion. So it makes the laugh MUCH more significant. I will be watching. I hope they keep producing.

People shouldn't judge too harshly. A lot of shows have started off a little slow and turned into something great, and some shows have started off strong and just died. Give it time. It's definitely not the worst thing on TV.

The network does not seem to understand that the humor was derived from the fact that Sam Halpern was as serious as a heart attack when he delivered his lines.I think of drill sergeant R Lee Emery in Full Metal Jacket. He was as mean as a reptile-but i almost died laughing at his performance.

Why isnt this guy on the show? I personaly really like the show and want it to get another season. However if it keeps on that blonde chick that Shatner's character is dating then I think I will stop watching. She takes away from the son and father stuff with whats his name and makes it a romance with Shatner and the blonde woman. If they get rid of her when the show comes back then I will keep watching but if they don't then good ridence. Assuming it comes back.

I've read the book.This is dull bland sugar-coated rubbish .Shatner delivers the sterilized lines with a profound lack of conviction.It's a pity HBO did not win the rights to this show. I could picture Al Pacino delivering Sam Halpern's lines with gusto.Unfortunately,after this watered down cool-aid pollutes the airwaves, it will be almost impossible for another station to pick up the rights to this pattonesque character .
