Thank you for showing us how simple it will be to get started in the garage. I've always been very interested in powder coating and having recently retired at 67, this would be an awesome way to start out and literally have a blast!! lol It has been very difficult to purchase black chrome or powder coating for some of my Harley parts, as it seems the ones I want or need only come in chrome. My goal is to purchase the chrome parts and powder coat them. Who knows, I'm thinking my blue Harley would look awesome with some blue powder coated parts as well! I was becoming quite discouraged with my prior research, on how to get started on a retirement budget, but your video has opened the door for a lot of fun, good side income and a way to make my dream possible. Some tips too. You could use the oven racks to hang from, then put it the oven without touching the paint. Let it hang from same wire you sprayed with. That way you don't mess up the powder in transport. Plus spraying over some sort of clean containment, you could reuse the paint.

I was thinking the same. Put a sheet of plastic on the floor. That was a no-brainer. The oven rack may work but, then you get a powder coated oven rack. I'd like a explanation on how to transport it without getting fingerprints or tool marks in the powder. His green is very splotchy. IDK how to stop that other than have the professional shops do it.

@@RalphSampson... if you take the oven racks out, and suspend them by line or bungee, whichever. Then attach whatever your spraying with line, like he did from the ceiling. You can attach the clamp to the wire and spray the part. You can wipe any powder off the oven rack if you want before bake. Then just disconnect the rack from the supports and slide it in the oven. I can't tell if his racks have that annoying thing that requires you to lift it at an angle to get out. If it does, he can cut the rack to allow it to slide in straight. Hope that clears it up.

When you are planning to do a 2 coat application, never fully cure the first coat! You will not get adhesion between the two coats. only cook the first coat until it just starts to gel then apply the second coat!!!

Just a tip: I started with the older dual voltage Eastwood model years ago and still use it from time to time to this day. Try spraying around 5-7 psi and work a little more slowly. That system has its limits but that will help the coating come out more even. 👍🏼👍🏼

Good video! One thing I found that helps tremendously with adhesion (not as big of a deal with shiny new parts, but with older stuff that ends up being what I coated most) is to use a phosphate etching pre-treatment. I think i got mine from Columbia Coatings, but its been years so not positive. Really helped out when I used to rebuild old motorcycles.

The best thing I did not have to listen to a-lot of professional jargon. Keep up the good videos. Let Easton know I had bought another kit that does( not!) even compare to Eastwoods kit. Very informative. I've been considering powder coater myself for some time but have not yet. Knowing the basics before hand, understanding the "mess" left behind, a clean booth setup would enable reuse of the excess powder. Basically a non-conductive plastic box which the part fts comfortably inside without much interference for applicaton.

That was a great video. I’ve been on a recent crusade of trying to learn to spray paint a vintage bench vise I bought on Marketplace. Interestingly enough, during this process I must have signed up for Eastwood emails because they won’t stop showing up. I’d never heard of them previously, but it was like someone was sending me a message from heaven as they watched me crucify this bench vise with cheap spray paint and primer. I was getting ready to unsubscribe at the bottom of one of the emails last week and looked closer to the email and realized Eastwood was a very reputable retailer with a great line of spray paints. I went online and learned this is a good company with a great line of products. Each email I deleted everyday was a sign saying “take a look at this dummy”. I must have sanded down to bare metal and repainted that vise a half dozen times in a couple weeks and all along the answer was in the emails I kept deleting. Anyway, again today on your video I see Eastwood for the hundredth time this week. I’m definitely interested in a powder coat kit. And the bench vise, I think I might try powder coating. I’m taking a break from spray paints for a while. Thx again for the great video.

Thanks for the video! I've invested and gonna do some 5th scale gas RC parts. I de-anodized my parts and sanded them down to the raw aluminum finish, I am using a candy orange powder and wasn't sure if I needed to polish all the aluminum parts to get that candy color. But after watching your video I see bare aluminum is fine . Thanks again saved me tons of work !!!

Powder coat is just awesome. I did a whole lot of stuff on my HD with powder coat and stainless steel. Those two things cut the mainance in half compared to chrome and paint. Hope I get that powder coat kit, looks good and Eastwood stuff is good stuff too.

Great info fella' I watched Eadtwood do a demo too but the more I watch the more I learn, I want to make sure I am up to date before I buy expensive equipment. at 75 I can't affor to make a blunder' The pension does not go far these days. Sounds like an Awesome way to paint parts economically . I have painted two cars many years aago, but I have heard that powder coating will be there from now on! I have never tried it, but I believe it wou!d be very handy on the restoration of my 1963 Ford Fairlane Sports Coupe with factory 4-speed!
