well, for some of us who have been really trying to get into more detailed animation in gp and have a good grasp of regular/ the rest of blender, this is actually perfect. this guy laid out sketch, ink, paint, tweening, and comp in a matter of seconds. Thats so impressive! some of the gp tutorials are just incredibly long, a bit rambly too! Its because people want it to be comprehensive/ go step by step and explain everything about gp and blenders features... which is totally what you'd expect for a full tutorial I personally like to have the ui explained, a few things you can do, and then try the software/ I'm a big 'fail up' kind of learner. Since you can do so much in blender it's very beneficial to learn basic pipelines and then go from there. If you learn every single feature and potential of what you can do at once-- it may be difficult to go back into blender and remember everything!
@SkipperWing2 ай бұрын
No video is perfect, and without some amount of criticism, the videographer can’t know what is/isn’t working to improve for the next one. As a teacher IRL, most of my students would bounce off of this if it were used purely for education purposes. It is too fast for anyone without an existing understanding of Blender, and while it doesn’t go overboard on function descriptions, it also doesn’t go into enough depth about each function so that, if/when you mess up, you can can course correct. It is also titled “Tutorial,” with all that implies, in terms of instruction. Perhaps “Demonstration” would have been more accurate (most YT “tutorials” are actually demonstrations) HOWEVER It is wonderful as a demonstration, synopsis and inspiration of what Blender can do. It’s also a wonderful jumping on point with clear terms someone with a basic understanding of Blender can search on their own. And it helpfully leads to other videos where the viewer can get more in-depth instruction. Yes, the internet is filled with bad faith takes, but I don’t think talking down someone else’s experiences because what didn’t work for them worked for you is very helpful. Pointing out where the videographer could improve will improve the quality of the videos, and thus make Blender more mainstream, and indie and hobby artists less dependent on traditional education, industry standards and the industry. Isn’t that what we all want?

Actually how? How did you create parallax? And why did paint it all in Krita? Ho did export that grease pencil drawing? This video left me with more questions than answers. Could you explain with more detail what actually happened in this video?
@PolyPaintАй бұрын
This is very good that you start to get questions. Each are those are very specific and now you can solve them one by one, understanding the process completely. Now for the questions. Parallax is created by making mid ground rock and the frog separately from the background and having them on a decent distance, on top of that, parallax works only when the camera moves, so I made the camera to move forward in the animation Painting in 2d is always faster and easier than in blender. You can still paint the textures in blender but if you do 2d art, it’s better to use the typical 2d software for concept art or painting with all the brushes you’re using for your 2d art. To export the GP object, you just render raw lineart( turn off everything else) and save the render as png or JPEG. Alternatively you can just copy-paste the render into krita. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask. But it a good thing to ask questions. Having a right question is a big part of the solution.

Hey man just one question, once you have drawn all the frames, after that, GP allows you to configurate in the timeline 1/1 (24fps), 2/2(12fps) ? Cheers.
@PolyPaintАй бұрын
Hey. You can set up the framerate in the Output settings at any time. But that doesnt influence your keyframe placement. It makes the animation feel slower or faster. if you go from 24fps to 12 fps, then your final animation will be x2 longer and slower. If you're animating on two's you can scale down your frames on a timeline relative to the start by 200% and you will get 12fps animation animated each frame. If you want to go from 24 to 30 fps... something will be lost or shifted on a timeline. Its obviously better to have final fps while you're drawing frames

Yeah, I like blender more to be honest. Although you don’t have the same toolset since blenders grease pencil like vector graphics in 3d space. You also animate objects in Z-depth? Like making an object pass in front of and behind layers, without adjusting/changing the hierarchy of the layers? & is there a shortcut for it?
@PolyPaint21 күн бұрын
If I understood the question correctly, then you should just place your strokes in a right order in 3d space. That’s the benefit of having it in 3d. GP doesn’t work too well with the z depth sometimes and you can get a fighting if you have lots of layered GP layers or object and it’s confusing to blender what’s in front. But for simple scenes with couple view planes placing them correctly in 3d space should work fine. Eg if in one frame your GP character is begins the stone, then you on another one you move the strokes in front of the stone and it will appear in front.

@PolyPaintАй бұрын
Hey! For 2d animation, drawing is essential. There is no way around that imo. You can do 3d animation with stylized shading that looks semi-2d without drawing skill, but in the end, drawing is just beneficial for understanding composition, design, color. So I’d encourage to learn 2d regardless the end goal 💪

@@quinnguyen8780 I think it worth splitting it into parts otherwise it can be too long and non-watchable. But yeah , will do more tutorials on GP definitely

Hey! Thanks for the question. It’s Krita - a free 2d painting software similar to Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint or Procreate. It’s fairly simple to import images there. You can render the image and save to file (eg png format) and just open it in that software via File-Open, like in any other programs out there. Or, in my case, I just copy-pasted the rendered lineart from blender to Krita. In blender you have the option to copy the render into the clipboard and then in krita you can paste that ( ctrl+V in windows) in any file, or, when creating files it offers to create the file using clipboard and it pastes that automatically. So you have bunch of options. For me copy-paste is most efficient if you don’t render mega resolutions. It’s fast and you don’t create temporary files on your hard drive.

Wow, so he magically just had a background and 3D rock objects. I imagine AI will eventually learn to do it like this with some easy pencil strokes.

It already can do similar things decently. But in this case I modelled them, it’s not a magic 😃

@PolyPaint I know just thought it'd be cool if just drawing with a greases pencil would automatically have blender make a 3d object like in the video. Maybe with improvement of AI that'll be possible.

@@tomo8940 I think that might become a reality soon as in recent update Grease pencil got own Geo nodes support. I expect lots of addons coming based on that
