The most valuable thing in these videos is the narrating. I will eventually learn Blender, sometime when I finish College or have a Semester break. I had to subscribe either way even without watching most of these (yet), narrating the keys you are pressing is such a valuable thing for beginners.

If your mirroring is not going well and you dont get an arc, you should shange a pivot point before mirroring. In object mode (with plane selected) go to the Object tab (upper left) and here tab Set Origin. You can move the cursor first and than move origin to the 3d cursor or else

I use the mirror modifier to add thickness at the same time. With the inset tool: if you hold down the control key, you can extrude the inset faces in the same operator.

Newbie here. I ended up with two edges after applying the mirror modifier. Dissolve edges at 4:20 didn't seem to work on my two selected edges. I had to remove the edges and selected Vertex > New Edge from vertices. Anyone know what happened here?

1:24 You didn't need to move the 3D Cursor, you could have just selected the bottom edge and used the spin tool and it would have perfectly placed the spin without moving the 3D Cursor. Excuse my nitpicks, it's a great tutorial, keep it up.
@JayAnAm3 жыл бұрын
No, I dont want to spin the bottom edge, I want to spin the top edge, so I have to select this edge.
@bobross93703 жыл бұрын
@@JayAnAm Perhaps you misunderstood, I was simply saying it's easier to spin from the bottom edge than it is from the top simply because the way your plane and 3D Cursor were positioned made a perfect alignment.
@JayAnAm3 жыл бұрын
@@bobross9370 In this case yes, but in a real modeling situation you can't always move your mesh around just to match the alignment for spinning. This is why it is a better and more general way to move the 3d cursor, which is the pivot for the spinning.

short cut keys might of been the worst idea to add to blender. it makes learning the program take so much extra time becuase I have no idea what these buttons Im being told to press do. I just press them. They have no system that actually makes sense. I would rather click things I can see with my eyes rather than know 400 short cuts on my keyboard which save a minsucule amount of time.
